That sounds weird. I wonder if they would brew new batches or if they would really put one and two year old IPAs on tap. Maybe the plan is to have some of the beta versions on tap alongside the new 3-way and things got distorted through word of mouth?

I assume a new batch, they have a big system and a smaller system right?

Yeah, I don't know. I'd imagine (and hope) that if it was going to happen, they'd brew new batches of the previous two. The only thing that lent the rumor a smidgen of credibility to me is that I heard it from two people who don't know each other. One of them claimed to hear it while at Fort George. But who knows.

My guess is it'll be Beta 8.1, 8.2, and 3-Way. If they put on 2015 and 2013 side by side with 2014 (assuming all fresh batches), that seems ballsy, but maybe our collective memory isn't as good as we think it is and 2015 stacks up just fine against 2014.

AFAIK they have the original system in the pub and then the second system where the taproom is. I'm getting laid off this summer so maybe the partial blessing is that I can make it south to check that out.

Personally, I can't name many IPA's I'd give a shit about that are sub 6%. For this year's 3-Way to even be in the conversation at 5.7% with last year's (a beer many of us went nuts over that was 7.2%) is pretty damned amazing.

I'm not digging this canned version as much as I did the tap version I had back in April but it's still a nice brew. If this summer is as hot as I fear it may be, we'll probably be pretty thankful for a beer like this.

Picked up a 4-pack today, just opened one. One thing I noticed right off that bat is a lack of carbonation. This is after a pretty vigorous pour:

After that minimal head subsided, it's basically completely still. I see almost zero bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass.

Otherwise, smells nice and juicy to me, and I like clean, dry, low ABV IPAs so this one is right up my alley. The carbonation is an issue for me though, so I hope I just got a dud can here.

Looking over the various entries, I noticed this one listed under Boneyard. Have to think it's a mistake, perhaps should be merged under the 2014 version? But there are reviews as recent as last month and then going back about a year.

Also, I submitted the following name change requests (for consistency; did I mention I'm in technical communication as a profession? Having the same beer reviewed under different names is basically total anarchy to me)
    • 3-Way IPA (2013 w/ Gigantic/Lompoc)
    • 3-Way IPA (2014 w/ Boneyard/Block 15)
    • 3-Way IPA (2015 w/ pFriem/Georgetown)
That's all I have for now, God bless America.

I think this is a good beer, no question. For me it boils down to...

2014 Collab- there wasn't an IPA (single, imperial) from Fort George, Boneyard or Block 15....ok, maybe Tropical Slam...that I preferred over that 3-Way.

2015 Collab- I would rather drink, Vortex, Overdub, Lucille or pFriem IPA over this years 3-Way. Not necessarily a knock on this years collab as all the aforementioned beers I feel are absolutely quality...but the standard flagship IPA's from the respective breweries are better IMO. Wasn't the case last year. And that's saying a hell of a lot.

Am I the only one that thinks this years' is better than last years' version and that this years' 3-way is head and shoulders above Overdub? This years' version captures the clean, pure hop character of Georgetown's IPAs stunningly well and to have that fresh and in a can is quite the treat.

I need to pick up a 4-pack so I can sit down and really give this one a shot in isolation.

Both times I had the betas at Ft. George I had been drinking all day prior. And then when I had it on tap at Crows Feet this weekend, I had (naturally) been drinking all day prior.

I was at de Garde before both visits to Ft. George. Yeah, that's not happening.

    Total first world problems.

I guess last night's flat-ish can was a false alarm. I like this beer. Will be drinking more.

Had the same lack of carb issue last year on an entire 4 pack. Glad it was just one of yours.

Also, I would like to publicly bitch and moan right here that I apparently completely missed Overdub. Thank you.

Unless you're retreating to a Ft. George-free zone (vortex?) for the next few months, you haven't missed it. It's more likely that it hasn't shown up at your local spots yet.

I've asked at a couple spots and it already came and went. It'll probably show up again though.

I got one 4-pack of Overdub and haven't seen it since. Does it really share the same SKU as 3-Way?
