The markup isnt my issue so much as the buying 4 cases just to profit from. I fail to see how thats somehow ok but a single person buying a case + singles is an asshole...

I'm not sure how it's exploitation if that's market price and people are buying it. Clearly the people purchasing it had no problem being "exploited" since he sold out, and eBay prices are even higher in the $50 range with a day and a half left on the auction.

Regardless of who bought what, how much and what price it was resold at, Ithaca is the reason that those people ended up with those many bottles in their hands. If you sell by the case, you aren't selling to the Joe Shmoe's who are looking to enjoy one bottle and cellar another. You're selling to the people looking to stock up for beer trades, selling on the eBay, and selling in their stores, none of which benefit Ithaca nor their direct customers/fans.

I could go on all day about this but I've already summarized my thoughts here with my experience at another bottle release as a suggestion of how to fix it.

Wait wait wait...first off, WHY do you care? You werent the person who paid double for it, I did. If anyone should be pissed off, it should be ME. I am not because as Fuji said "that's the market price and people are buying it". How is this any different than any other trader who is going to buy something like Dark Lord (for example purposes only) for 20 bucks at the release then ask for a kings ransom in a trade??? Its what the market bears at the time.

And for the record, nobody ever said anything about them getting 4 cases...you did Mag00n.

There's an assumtion that Hoosick had multiple cases, which they did. I believe they had two total, though.

I care because If even 4 bev centers did this, thats 16 people that are out their allotment. Again I ask, how is the individual getting a case + extras a dbag but youre totally fine with this guy getting 4 to sell? And I know for a fact they got atleast 3 cases and 4 from some pretty reliable sources , but you can believe what you want.

And I think its exploitation because youre going to a 1 case release and leaving with 4, all to sell for profit. This never wouldve happened a few years ago (or even last year) but more and more 'non-advocates' are getting into craft and its a sad direction its going in IMO.

I didnt mean to call anyone out specifically, Im probably just salty that I too was shut out.

My mistake...did not see it in play during this conversation.

I think anyone who walked away with a case or more is a dbag, regardless of what they were doing with it afterwards. They took beers out of the hands of people at the end of the line and that sucks. But like I said earlier, people wouldn't have been able to do that if Ithaca didn't give them the opprotunty to, and they (and plenty other breweries) need to rethink their bottle releases in general.

People who go to bottle releases are the ones who need to "think"
Standing 200+ deep in line when it was well known that there were only 115 cases on a Saturday for a hyped beer and showing up after 10:30??
    C-mon - wake up.
