Wow I am amazed to hear how other Woodmans operate.... My dads friend runs the Woodmans around here, he is actually Phil Woodmans nephew, I have never had any of these kind of things happen. It is a grocery chain.... What do these other store managers gain from doing this crap? They do not get more money for it like a small store owner would, I am glad my liqour store manager does do this kind of stuff!

I was gonna say something about that as well but you pretty much nailed it. Cheers!

I'm curious as to how you think they "market" themselves?

Releasing Zombie Dust in small quanitities so it stay "hyped" They could brew as much of that as Alpha King if need be.... A brewery of there size and reputation could easily secure enough Citra. Dark Lord... Keeping an average Imperial stout event brewery only, it is the only way to get the variants, the only good parts of the dark lords. Last but not least of course.... A brewery that focuses on mainly Hop forward beers... has been around for a long time by craft standards, is of decent size and popularity but still refuses to date or even just julian code the necks... that is what I meant, hope that clears it up.

Yes, you def cleared up your point, however, you're completely wrong on just about everything. I'm drunk and tired and don't feel like responding to every wrong point you made on how they "market" themselves right now. If someone else wants to chime in please do. If not, I'll try and clear up these "marketing" misconceptions tomorrow.

There is not enough citra hops in existence to fill the zombie dust demand. They bottle 500-1000 cases of zombie dust a week, sometimes even more, which I wouldn't consider small quantities. They would have to build another whole brewery/barrel room to meet the demand for the DL variants, and dark lord day has been going on for so many years, why ruin it by making the bottles available any other day.

Woodman's in Oak Creek always has 6ers and bombers of 3F on the shelf. I don't think I have ever seen it in Keno. Timer's in Racine got a case of Alpha King and another of Gumballhead, and they sold it for $1.99 a bottle.

Funny that Alpha King is generally the last FFF offering to leave shelves in Northwest Indiana. ... On that note, its easy to make friends in the Green bay area when I bring FFF up for trade.

To the OP, yes $4 a bottle of Alpha is a surprise and a joke. I've seen other stores around here start to break up GH 6ers and sell for $2.50/ea, not the worst but noticed the trend myself.

Not going to defend FFF too much here, but some of the complaints are BS. I think they brew as much ZD as possible and are not purposely keeping it rare on purpose. Citra is expensive and hard to get. There are shortages. They can sell out almost exclusively from the brewpub. Why do it any other way? Cheapest for them, cheapest for the customer.

DLD is more of an event than about the beer, and those who attend the event are the ones who are going to purchase the BA DL. What's wrong with that?

I hope FFF never changes, I like that they are small, and focus on their nearby market. The brewpub always has interesting stuff on tap, and they constantly churn out new bombers to go and for the distribution market.

They are certainly larger then a lot of breweries I purchase from that have dates on there bottles, hell even a julian on the neck would be fine. But to charge $10 or more for a bomber of DIPA and not date it is not something I am willing to accept from brewery now a days. That is the biggest complaint I have for them...
