Being 9% plus abv is why I don't talk about it. Not exactly a garage beer at that point. That being said, it's still a solid beer and the switch to 12 oz 4 packs and increased distro to new states, definitely will allow more people to try it and decided for themselves.

ZD is still hit or miss. I'm sure FFF has fantastic quality control and can replicate a recipe without issue so I suspect the variation must be in the quality/life cycle of the hops. Is there a peak season for citra which will yield the best flavors from the hops? I don't know. I just know that in a given year I can have old or new ZD which is top notch and then some from another batch that isn't worth the effort to drink.

Personally I like their beers, I did find the last ZD I had to be an average beer, not the stunner that I remember. That Dreadnaught was so long ago I can’t remember it very well. But I think it’s a fair statement that they generate about zero talk in the Beer Talk forum, I was just curious as to why when 10 years ago they could do no wrong.

It's in the DC area, even my local grocery store, which doesn't have a huge selection is getting FFF. Picked up some ZD dated 3.2.21 the other day.

Nice beer - haven't had since April fools day 2014 or 15 at the Lord Hobo. 3F getting shelf space here in Boston for 6 months but it's mostly sitting around. Too much competition and quality haze. Aside from Pliney and its variants - does any clear IPA get much talk/press/hype these days?

I didn’t see regular, but I picked up a few bottles of barrel aged Behemoth yesterday at Shangy’s! Bottled in 2/16/21...never had this or normal but looking forward to trying it

I reckon that if you check out the reviews for the barrel aged, you will be pleased that you picked up some.

    Dreadnaught is an amazing beverage...

Perhaps there are folks who can't find it fresh? I have been fortunate to have it at the taproom and fresh in bottles and it is an incredible beer...

I like Arctic Panzer Wolf as well ...

No seems to be all the haze bro beers that generated the traffic. There’s just nothing tricky with a WCO style beer, it’s just basic ingredients driven by the hops and the brewers skills.

Didn't 3F (the brewery) come off as a holier-than-thou douchey kind of brewery years ago? (unsure if it still has this reputation, I've never been, I just remember ppl going there and reporting kinda getting blown off)

Pliny imo is in a class by itself. But the brewers skill do count, there’s a lot of IPAs few are as good. But fresh Stone does come very close, but with WCO the style isn’t hiding behind anything either, the hops dominate, but how their used counts as well.

Most haze bros have a sameness to them, but like most things some are better than others.

Yeah that seems to be their reputation. I used to be a very frequent visitor and only had an issue once over an expired drivers license carrying out from their kiosk. Only time I ever saw that particular employee too. We've always been treated great in the pub and I'm bummed they closed it. Place was a little dark and metal, with loud music and bad movies playing and it had some guidelines to keep things running despite typically being very busy. If you didn't follow their guidelines they might blow you up. And don't ask servers to turn down the music or put on a different movie. Also, as a first time guest you should have little understanding of who/what they are and not read the board for ten minutes and then ask for a Miller Lite. I observed if you acted like a dick they wouldn't take any shit.

The only issue I had generally is I lived ten minutes away and would have to wait an hour or more to get in the place most times the last few years as they became a destination.

Drie Floyd’s started distribution in MD and I finally tried Dreadnaught and found it solid but nothing special. Alpha King is probably my favorite from them. Never was huge fan of Zombie Dust either. Good beers but nothing mind blowing to me to be in synch with the high ratings. Everyone’s tastes are clearing different though just reading others opinions on this post.
