Just wondering what a fair price would be for this. Also, is it worth it? Saw it for $36 and was thinking of splitting it with a buddy, but don't know if I should or just grab a cheaper option.

$36 is pretty typical for that beer. Definitely worth it when splitting with someone else. Damn delicious.

If you've never had it, I'd suggest splitting it but Oude Kriek is just as good and almost a third the price.

Oude Kriek 375s are a third the price of Schaerbeekse 750s. Also never seen it on shelves in my area :-/

Yeah– it's the one of the next best options when the 'loon supply is out. :\

$36 is exactly what I paid for it about a year ago so that seems reasonable.

$36 seems to be pretty average for this bottle. Though this bottle is far beyond average, one of the best sours I've ever had.

Thanks for the input. Hopefully it's around tomorrow still and I'll pick it up. I saw it on the shelf and was like "?". I've never seen any 3F on the shelves at this place at all.

Worth it? Yeah. Bout the same price as any Cantillon Lou Pepe Krieks I've ever seen in the states. And it tastes very similar IMO. Good stuff.

It is NOT worth it. A Kriek is a Kriek. Cantillons Kriek is superior and MUCH cheaper as well as Drie Fontenein.

Hmm. The LP Kriek I have was purchased from the same store. I'm saving that for a special occasion so I haven't had it yet unfortunately. Oh, and for $27.

That would be meaningful if you could find Cantillon Kriek ever. At least the Schaerbeekse is on shelves, thanks to the price point.

It's not worth 38 bucks to ME (that's what I paid for the one I had) and I'm generally a big fan of krieks/lambics.

You know what though, only you can say whether it's worth it to you and to make that judgment, you have to suck it up and buy the damn thing.

I can pretty much guarantee you've wasted 40 bucks a bunch of times in your life. I can also pretty much guarantee you won't dislike it. I felt like it wasn't quite worth the price but you might feel different.

If you can find De Ranke's kriek, that beer is OUTSTANDING. I mean f-ing fantastic. I'd put it wayyy above and it was only around 20 bucks IIRC. I only chime in with this since people are telling you to get Cantillons and they're so unavailable right now. This might be a more obtainable beer for you that is in the same vein and of at least as good quality (superior, IMO.)

How long can Schaerbeekse Kriek be cellared? I found one Memorial Day for $34.99 in Napa & bought it. At that price, I'm looking for a good reason to pop it open as well.

Cellarable for 10 years says the bottle; general belief is that fruit lambics are best fresh. I am waiting to open mine is all I know and it sits in the fridge in the meantime.

Popped a 5yr old bottle somewhat recently, & though I've never had it before, the cherry was very prominent.

When it was on the shelf last year at Sams it was 37.99. Almost bought it too. Price was right, just couldnt afford it.

I had a 2006 the other night and it was delicious. However, as with literally every time this question is asked, the answer is "If you only have drink it ASAP." There's no point in aging if you don't know what something tastes like fresh.

I've had it fresh at Abel's a couple time.
