3L bottle format

Looks like Ommegang has special released them, probably not for retail though.

 

at one point Sly Fox put out Renard D'Or in a holiday 3L package, they could still be floating around

 

Right, I was mostly concerned with how much damage the cork could do if the person opening the bottle wasn't careful. Seems like it could be holding back quite a bit of pressure. I've never opened a bottle that large before.

 

I don't have any personal experience either.

 

I took part in a Two Brothers Heavier Handed a few years ago, buddy said he got it at Costco.

 

I opened a 3L Supplication at DLD '13 and the cork jumped right out of the bottle, gushed a little bit, but not so bad

I know, because I got an empty one right next to me. It was the only way I was going to try it. $75, but well worth it.

 

Prairie Artisan Ales

 

A bunch of Belgian breweries release 3L bottles. I've seen a couple 9L Piraats as well. Massive.

 

Stone 10th Anniversary was released in this format as well!!! So that every other year theory is done!

 

Stone is a flip top and they will refill it if you take it to their brewpub.

 

Yes. The price was $104 which I thought was unreasonable.

Costco had 3l chimay blue $50 and 1.5 for $20. I had to grab the 2013 1.5 to go with my millennium 1.5
