Anyone been to 4 sons in Huntington Beach yet? Looks like they opened Sunday, didn't realize they were open until I saw another establishment had one of their beers on tap. @dcgunman
Went there on the opening day. The coconut one was pretty good surprisingly. The double IPA was pretty good too. The other onces (including the special double IPA with habanero and pineapple), where mediocre imho.
Yes I was there at 1130 Sunday Jesse. A good opening. Inside was nice. Better than Beach City but nothing like Bottle Logic. But that's not really important. I liked the Nightmare on Gothard St over The Great One. The raspberry amber was interesting. Waiting to hear back about their growler fill policy. We have 2 very close stops in HB now. I'll call it brew loop or brew square mile. Dangerous. I'm at BCB at least once a week. 4S will be in the loop. We should hook up soon.
Sounds like they're doing some interesting stuff. I definitely want to check it out now. I'll have to give BCB another try. Dude behind the bar the only time I went was a bit engrossed in his phone to where I kinda felt like I was bothering him asking for a beer. Maybe just bad day.
I'm there usually on Monday at noon (day off) and Fridays after work. Let me know when's a good time for you. I still have the Hang Ten DIPA in my kegerator.
Wife and I stopped in Sunday after bottling homebrew. The beers were mediocre in my opinion. The DIPA seemed to me to have an extreme pine finish. I started to wonder if they added pine sol to it. Overall they seem to be passionate about beer. It's worth a visit, and I'll give them some time to get established before rendering judgment.
Stopped in tonight. The special peach IPA was good as was the mint/mango pale ale. Their flagship IIPA had, as mentioned above, a very strong pine flavor and finish and drinking more than a taster could be rough. Stout was basic but solid. Overall, better beers and tasting room than BCB IMO.
I stopped in at Four Sons today. They had 5 beers available, and I tried them all. Decent, but nothing great yet. It seems like they are going to be big on flavor adjuncts. The Not So Dum blonde ale had a huge raspberry taste, Going (Coco) Nuts amber ale was all coconut, It's Peachy Time IPA was big on the peaches, etc. The tasting room is better than Beach Cities because they have much more inside space and a good amount of bar seating. Definitely not up to the level of Bottle Logic's tasting room (but BL obviously dumped a ton of money into theirs). The only complaint I had today was it was way too hot inside and they have no air conditioning, so it was just stale, humid hot air. I ordered a flight of four beers and they were very warm by the time I got to the third. No outside space is a bit of a bummer too. Overall, not bad but not great. I definitely liked their beers better than the ones I had at the Beach Cities opening, but nothing blew my mind. They are releasing their regular IPA next weekend so may go back to give that one a try. I also want to try the DIPA again when it is not at room temperature.
