Indeed I am. I sort of understand the hype around Tree House, but to me, at the end of the day, they wind up tasting more like juice than beer. It's fun from a novelty standpoint but certainly not what I'm craving if I want an IPA.

Zombie Dust has one of the fastest falloffs in the history of beer. Fresh on tap it's WORLD CLASS!!!

    Ah, I see.
I guess I was just surprised though because there are many redeeming qualities to the beer besides the hops that struck a chord with me, including body, mouthfeel, appearance, things of that nature. But I see what you are saying for sure.

Yeah, like I said, I understand the hype. They do an exceptional job at what they do. It's just not something I'd want all the time.

I completely respect your point. I'm not trying to knock the beer, it is definitely very, very, VERY good. I'm originally from Ohio, and left right before Three Floyd's really hit distribution in my area. I spent about 2 1/2 years listening to my friends talk the beer up before finally getting to try it - and admittedly, it was a couple of bottles that were sent from aforementioned friends vs it being on draft.

I'm completely willing (and excited) to try it straight from the tap, and have no doubts that doing so changes the quality of the beer. However, it's still something that I'd consider being a bit of a let down, based on my own personal experience.

    Cheers!

Zombie Dust isn't an IPA, FYI. It's a pale ale, that could be part of your problem.

Pretty much all of the super hyped "NE style" IPA's. What kills it for me is the yeast bite, astringency, and muddled hop flavors that many of them have.

Also, NB Le Terroir, Alpine Nelson, and HF Everett were super disappointing.

Funky Buddha whales - all taste unnatural and not my thing. Fake flavors.
    Mexican Cake - thin
Zombie Dust - pretty basic and nothing special.
Double Barrel Jesus - tastes the same as all other Evil Twin stuff.
    Side Project Black and Wild

On the other hand, whales that surprised me in terms of how great they were:
    Rare
    Focal Banger
    Fou Foune
    CBS

I can't for the life of me understand how people on here think DDG is a let down. What were you expecting? Something light and refreshing? It's a flavor acid bomb like none other.

Barrel-aged beers do not tend to be good representations of styles, IMO.

I was pretty disappointed with Mexican Cake. Thin, lacking in flavor. However after having the Cognac BA and Bourbon BA versions this past weekend, I am a believer - tasted awesome!
