While I understand why they did it, I think it is a poor business decision for a IMO mediocre brewery to cut an exclusive label. While his comments can potentially seem as inflamatory they were said by Trump the canidate not Trump the bussiness owner.

Don't forget that 5 Rabbit is owned by Latin Americans -- the faction Donald insulted to begin with.

They should just brew a horrible, crappy beer and call it 'The Donald.'

Exactly. Also, don't underestimate the fact that approximately two million latinos (~20% of the population) live in the Chicago metro area.

@blue-dream, I know this is somewhat beer related, but is there any way this thread can deleted or locked? Thank you!

Glad the brewery took a stand. I'
They announced that they were renaming what was left of the beer under that name.

How much beer could they have possibly been selling in one bar in one town anyway. They felt like taking a stand on principle and they did it. If it was a national distribution and the backbone of their business they may have reacted differently. They will make up for any lost sales at that one bar with the gallons of free ink they are getting by telling him "your fired"

Donald Trump called Latin American folk (or at least a sub-section of them) rapists. Company owned by latin americans pulls their product from a place owned by Trump. What's surprising about this? I highly doubt that this single venture was keeping them afloat.

Obviously they aren't the best brewer in the area, but they have some decent beers and I'm sure this won't do anything but good for them.

Okay, to get back to the topic & debate at hand, then, it sounds like what you're saying is that you understand why 5R might take offense at Trump's remarks, but they should stay in business with him because (a.) it would be too detrimental to their business to lose this account and (b.) what Trump says while campaigning shouldn't affect his business relationships. Is that accurate?

Given that I'd never heard of the brewery until now, I'd say it was a pretty savvy move in terms of publicity. Heck, if Trump can use the political process to get free media coverage, then small business owners should get to ride the wave too.
