I was under the impression this was open already, but not according to their website. Anyone have any info on when this will happen?
this will sound shitty, but this is one of those beers/brands I've stayed away from, simply because I don't like their labels. I'm a douche, I know...
I haven't been a big fan of most of their beers, but I recently had the Watermelon Paletas and it was excellent. Perfect for a hot day. Really refreshing and not cloying or overly sweet.
Are you really that surprised? Until 5 Rabbit comes out with a limited, barrel-aged stout (preferably with some ) or a wild ale (preferably one that uses an expensive, rare fruit no one has ever heard of), I think they will continue to completely fly under the radar on this site. See also: Metropolitan. Having said that, I haven't really had anything that impressive by them. 5 Rabbit is fine and I'd drink it in a bar if there was nothing else. The last time I tried a 5 Vulture, it was a thick, gloppy mess (this was when they were still contract brewing). If 5 Grass warms up even a little, I think it might as well be like drinking dish soap. I like their Marzen, though.
I really like 5 Lizard too. It's the best in their regular line up for sure. I also enjoyed Hutzi and Missionario. I feel like they've been held back by their petty arguments between the owners, but I heard the one left so they may actually pick up some speed now. I'm just interested in finding more out about the taproom so I can enjoy a Southside brewery that's only ten minutes away from me. My interest may decrease when BuckleDown opens five blocks away from my house though.
summer's over, but if you guys didn't have 5 Lizard, Missionario or one of the Paletas over the past few months you messed up. those are some of the best beers I put in my mouth.
You've got BuckleDown right by you, Urban Legend 15 minutes away, and just wait until Lagunitas opens up. I'd head out to 5 Rabbit as well if they were going to have a smaller system / brew up stuff aside from their regular lineup (which has been mediocre to worse).
southsider as well. neighbor to lagunitas. didn't know about BuckleDown but definitely intrigued. not terribly far at all.
I was talking to Randy of 5 Rabbits today and I asked about the tap room for you. They are looking to put up a storefront before they put in a taproom. The cost is about a quarter million to get it right so that will be on the back burner for now. No mention of a timeframe.
from what i've had personally and what other's have said to me, those feelings are mutual for many. i'm also a fan of missionario.
