This dudes just a little too happy for me, but its kinda interesting. Nothing I didnt already know, but its pretty cool to see this posted in such a mainstream format. I really dig science + beer stuff. http://gizmodo.com/five-scientific-steps-to-pouring-the-perfect-beer-at-ho-1509678552 http://www.yahoo.com/food/the-perfect-most-scientific-beer-pour-the-dens-of-74740258458.html
Thanks for the informative post! Although this is information I'm sure most BA's know, it's cool to tie in some science with it. I gotta say though, the guy's nose tripped me out the whole time... looks like he caught a strong left hook from Tyson
You dont want to pour ALL beers like this though, correct? Stouts for example should have a more aggressive pour than something like an IPA.
I love science and beer. I've never understood why a lot of people have crooked noses. I guess more people get in fights or car accidents and are born that way. I guess I'm just a pacifist, good driver and have good genes. At least he doesn't look like Adrien Brody. Man, I feel weird making comments about a man's nose.
I love Head Squeeze! This is a great YouTube channel if anyone is interested in science stuff. And I'm wondering the same thing Shamb is: should you pour different beers differently? I usually shoot for about 1/2 to 1 inch of head and pour accordingly. Am I doing it wrong?
Every beer is different (noted by Shamb), and so is every glass for that matter. The "appropriate" amount of head should vary from pour to pour based on what you're drinking an how it's served. Shooting for an exact amount of head probably isn't your best bet, unless you know that's exactly what you're looking for from your specific beer. Here's another video about pouring that provides (somewhat less scientifically) some great advice on pouring: http://craftbeertemple.com/videoblog/serving-beer/
