    Hey All,

Always received great input from fellow BA's on my trips to Milwaukee, Brussels, etc. Hoping for some input on Deerfield and the surrounding area. I'll be there for work and won't be there weekends so getting anywhere outside a 15-20 minute drive will be difficult.

Ideally, I'd like to take a early afternoon to visit Lagunitas Chicago spot (have been to their Petaluma location). Also, would love to visit a few spots with 3F (had some of their ales while in Milwaukee ... Zombie Dust, Dreadnaught, Alpha King, and Artic Panzer Wolf ... love them) and possibly bring some home with me to drink ... the Deerfield thread I found suggested Binny's for bottles. Any suggestions for draft beer / food?

    Thanks in advance.

    Oh Deerfield.

Best thing around that place for me was The Art of Beer in Highwood. Always a fine selection on tap. Knowledgable owner and staff. They have some bottles to go like Pipeworks and Half Acre, but there may be some other gems. The Beer Market in Vernon Hills isn't bad either for drafts.

As for food. It's not the best town. Deer Franks is decent for hot dogs. Might as well go to Highland Park to Michael's. Merkts cheddar for life.

Your best bet for Zombie Dust and other Three Floyd's offerings would be to take the conveniently located Metra train. For I think $5.50? (Someone correct me if I'm wrong) will get to you Union Station. From there it's a cab or simple train ride to the West Loop. The Lone Wolf almost always has ZD on tap, as well as other Three Floyd's offerings. I suggest downloading BeerMenu's or going to their website to check out whats on draft near by.

Once in the West Loop you're in an amazing area for good food. Au Chavel if you can stand to wait a while or check out Green Street Smoked Meats for some salt like style BBQ.

Hope that helps and enjoy your visit!

The Northbrook thread linked will have the best bottle shop locations, Binny's and Art of Beer in Highwood will be the best options. Art of Beer also has taps, so that's a bonus. Worldwide Liquors in Deerfield is small, but I have found Zombie Dust there before. Check their beer menus

An Emporium location just opened in Lincolnshire: http://emporiumchicago.com/locations/

Also Ten Ninety Brewing is opening in Glenview this week. That should be worth a drive one night. Glenview also has a Yard House, which is a chain but sometimes has good drafts.

There is a place in Vernon Hills called The Beer Market, which looks decent, but I've never been.

Half Day Brewing co just opened in Lincolnshire. Pretty decent tap list most days, haven't had their house brews yet but their burgers are solid. Prairie Kraft just opened (last week) in Buffalo Grove. It's a tiny outfit with no food (you can order crappy pizza in) and they are working out the kinks in their beers.

Only place that I know that will have Zombie Dust in bottles anywhere near where you're staying is at Otis & Lee in Northbrook (it's not far from Deerfield, down Waukegan Rd just south of Dundee intersection in an old strip mall next to a Domino's Pizza). They usually have a pretty descent selection of FFF bombers, they'll also have Yum Yum, Alpha King and Gumbball Head six packs. As for ZD, those they usually sell as singles and will generally have 3 or 4 bottles sitting next to the FFF bombers every day.

If you're going to be there for 5 weeks, you need to get into the city at least 2-3 times...you won't regret it. Even if you're only here during the week and doing it after work, you'd be doing yourself a disservice to not come into the city. You can do a combo of Metra and Uber to avoid driving. Search for other Chicago threads and you'll find plenty of suggestions for stores (Binny's Lincoln Park, Beer Temple, etc.), breweries (Goose Island [both Fulton and Clybourn], Half Acre, Revolution, etc.) and bars/restaurants with good beer selection (Hopleaf, Bad Apple, Kuma's, etc.).
