I found an Oskar Blues Ten Fidy in the back of my fridge. It has been sitting there for about five years. Clearly light would not be an issue, but how will normal fridge temperatures have affected the beer's taste? I've read cold temperatures will slow the aging process.
Should I even crack it? And what should I expect?

    Thanks,
    bmr.

Crack it open, I doubt you will be disappointed even if the aging process has been slowed due to refrigeration.

I had a report from a friend wintering in Florida who had one kept in the fridge for some time, and he thought it was excellent. Old Impy stout in my experience can develop soy-like flavours, which I don't really like (or not in excess), but sometimes you get more a winy complexity. I would try it for sure and report your experience here.

The question is why wouldn't you crack it?

How in the world does a beer stay in the fridge forgotten for 5 years?

Why drink it now? Shove it to the back of the fridge again and give it another year or two. Patience, grasshoppa.

I guess the big Tupperware containers of ancient leftovers, the ones that are just too gross for anyone to dare touch without a haz-mat suit, were holding it hostage.

I will never understand how this happens. If there's a beer in my fridge, it's not going to survive more than a week and that's if it's lucky.
