Yes, N/A is Not Applicable… so it is not a complete list yet. I’ve been to all 50 states, not to a brewery in each though. A few of the states I visited decades ago and did visit a brewery, but I just can’t seem to find the places I visited. Presumably they either closed, or changed hands and renamed. So, it appears I am at 40 if DC is included. I guess I’ve still got some work to do.
In the last 36 hours I’ve gone from 23 to 26 and pulled into the lead for now. All pints added: Alchemist (Vermont): Heady Topper Uncommon Pair (Rhode Island): Tha Govnah Fox Farm (Connecticut): Welly In the next few days will be adding New Hampshire, and Maine, getting me to 28. Lots of work to do
Nice list - you’ve already hit some of the best breweries in the US. Russian River, Side Project and Veil alone are solid picks.
I'm at 20....21 if you count USVI. AZ- Grand Canyon Brewing CA- The Bruery CO- Great Divide FL- Funky Buddha IN- 3 Floyds OH_ Jackie O's GA- Creature Comforts IA- Toppling Goliath IL- Goose Island PA- East End Brewing Co LA- The Courtyard Brewery MI- Founders NC- Burial NV- Trustworthy Brewing OR- de Garde UT- Zion Canyon Brewpub VA- The Veil WA- Fremont Brewing WI- New Glarus WV- Weathered Ground US Virgin Islands- St Johns Brewers I was surprised that I've never been to a brewery in KY, despite them bordering my state. I'll add around 5 states this summer while vacationing in the North East.
You are also missing MD, another bordering state, with quite a few breweries close to your eastern panhandle.
I'm at 29: NY, ME, NH, VT, MA, CT, RI, NJ, PA, DE, VA, NC, GA, AL, LA, TN, IL, KS, TX, NM, CO, AZ, UT, WY, NV, ID, CA, OR, WA Could have ND, MN, MD, OH and WI if I had gone to a brewery as opposed to a beer bar.
Just did a quick run through and came up with 26. Most of these obviously have multiples, so just threw out a random or for some reason memorable spot. I'm sure that there are a few others that I've ticked off, but they were in the 90s and I've had too many beers since then. That said, some work to do and now another good excuse for travel! Alaska - Glacier Brewhouse Arizona – Wren House California – Russian River Colorado – Our Mutual Friend Georgia - Piedmont Hawaii - Ola Idaho – Western Collective Illinois - Maplewood Indiana - Kismetic Kentucky – Against the Grain Maine – Gritty McDuffs Massachusetts - Trillium Minnesota - BlackStack Missouri - Schlafly Montana - OddPitch Nevada - Revision New Hampshire - RedHook New Mexico - LaCumbre New York – Other Half Ohio – Seventh Son Oregon – Mia & Pia’s South Dakota - Firehouse Tennessee – Southern Grist Texas – Celestial Beerworks Utah - Squatters Washington – Walking Man
That's the part that makes this game fun. It's not JUST drinking a beer in a state or even at a brewery. It's more specific than that. I think about the states that I have visited so far this year, and the ones that I will, and I will only add 2 more states, Louisiana and Oregon, to my list.
Since I've had beer from all but two states, I thought I'd do better with taprooms. Only 11 for me. But I have some 2244 brewers. Does someone want to start a contest that plays to my strengths?
I been to breweries in 23 states + DC and PR, though some of them are 10+ years ago so I don’t know if I had a pint 24 countries too, from 10+ breweries in each of Canada and Belgium to one-off breweries in Guatemala, Namibia, and Malaysia
Vermont - Hill Farmstead Massachusetts- Tree House New York - Suarez Connecticut - NEBCO New Jersey - Triumph Pennsylvania - Human Robot Maryland - DuClaw Delaware - Dogfish Head Wash DC - DC Brau Virginia - Benchtop North Carolina - Wicked Weed Ohio - Great Lakes Indiana - 3 Floyd's Illinois - Flossmoor Wisconsin - New Glarus California - Russian River
I'm impressed with all of the different breweries many of you have been to. I think I only have maybe 5 different states that I have had a pint in a brewery. I usually start with a flight, then pick my favorite and get a pint, though here in NC high alcohol brews only get a 9oz pour. And high alcohol stouts are my favorite.
I don't know your age, but you joined here in 2023 so I'm guessing that you're fairly young. Your time will come if you keep at it and travel when you can. It helps if you have a job that causes you to travel, and when that happens you focus on visiting breweries, not the restaurants/bars that are next door to your hotel. It will take some effort on your part, and it doesn't happen overnight, so be committed for the long run. And not to ignore your main commitment, your family has to be supportive/patient with your quests too.
I'm way older than I seem and my son and I enjoy visiting breweries, so we will likely hit a lot of them together now that I have a new mission. Previously, it was trying as many different beers as I could. Now it's time to start visiting breweries.
USVI — Nice! Let’s see, USVI, DC, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands all have breweries; American Samoa is the only US state/territory/possession without one.
