There will be at least 1 bottle at the La Muerta tasting if you get there in time.

Take a tour of the Live Oak brewery sometime and you'll see why they don't bottle. It's basically a garage in East Austin. No space for bottling.

And they've been talking for years about building a bigger brewery and actually setting up a bottling line and bigger fermentors. But then 4:20 rolls around...

They do, but they probably shouldn't.

Last years Double Pecan was infected and this years was over carbonated. I believe thats why silentjay feels that way, can't say I disagree.

opened three bottles of the 2012 double pecan this year. read the reports of overcarbing...and not one of the three we opened were overcarbed.

your criticism here should be consistency...not overcarbing.

The first batch was infected, the second batch was fine (or at least my year old bottle was fine), and the third batch was overcarbonated (annoying but fixable and at least not infected).

It kind of goes with their philosophy of low waste. They believe in growlers since they are refillable and decrease waste. Of course if you homebrew bottles are also refillable. They posted something about a store in Austin that forces you to bring your own containers for items since they don't have any bags for you to use and 512 was supporting that philosophy and explaining their position on bottling.

If you find one, let me know. Im looking for some to send off to a friend. I usually go to petrol since its like $12 but they don't have it on tap and they stopped using taplister so I haven't been able to check when they have it.

Hay Merchant and Petrol usually have it for growlers. Merchant will typically have all three on at once (nitro, cask, regular tap) which is always fun. Even though I pretty much hate all things nitro, it is still enjoyable in that fashion. I think Merchant almost always has Pecan Porter on regular tap for growlers.

Edit: Though of coarse after I say that I check their website and Pecan Porter is not on tap. I am sure it will be back on shortly.

yeah every time i've been to hay merchant in the last few months, they've had it on nitro or cask, or both, but never on regular old co2. i would like to send a growler to a trade buddy. nitro and cask for growlers will not keep for shit. if they'd even fill them. i don't want to send a poor representation of what the beer actually is . BRC seems to only have it on nitro as well.

it's too bad petrol has stopped using taplister. but i understand why they'd not want to deal with that pain in the ass.

Id go to Hay Merchant to fill it up but its just too pricey. Like $10-$15 more at Petrol. I know petrol doesn't have it because I stopped by Friday to check. I think they are going to start using a different site soon but not sure what and when.
