I'm sticking w 512 but Fire Eagle is a close second.

    What do you think?

Also, I'm getting a little bored w Jester King stealing all the board time this week so hoping to share the love w some other great breweries in Tejas.

    512. Hands down the best IPA brewed in Texas, imho.

Two great beers, but IMO Fire Eagle for the win.

I havnt had Fire Eagle yet, but (512) is probably the best Texas brewed IPA have had! Especially on cask!

I think every 512 brew I've had on cask is phenomenal. I hope they brew their black IPA again.

Wow...this is a tough one. These are two of my favorite IPAs, and definitely the two best made in Texas IMO (Freetail Velocihoptor and Real Ale Lost Gold get honorable mentions).

To preface, I think the comparison should be limited to on-tap versions, as the (512) isn't bottled/canned and the Fire Eagle is noticeably better on draft anyway. The (512) IPA has been around for several years, and as such has had a few recipe tweaks. At its best-tasting point (which I believe is right now, actually), (512) narrowly beats out Fire Eagle. But when Fire Eagle first got released on-tap, it was better than the (512) IPA iteration that was available at the time.

I think I need to do a side-by-side soon though, just to be sure. Great thread, and glad to see these brews getting some love on the boards.

512 is more balanced, and out of this world on Cask, but off cask I prefer Fire Eagle. I like the punch of hops. The 512 lacks character to me. I think Stash is better than "regular" 512 IPA.

That said, DEBC IPA is my vote for best in TX. Austin folks views to try the Deep Ellum, it's wonderful.

It's a DIPA, but when you can get it fresh, I think Saint Arnold Endeavor may be the best IPA made in Texas (and I can't believe I'm saying that).

Second place: (512) IPA, my go to draft whenever I'm out and about.

Big 512 fan. It's my go to on those rare nights I'm out of the house at a local bar. Fire Eagle is good, but I think 512 is excellent.

I really enjoy 512 IPA as my favorite in Texas. Was disappointed a couple of weeks ago when I saw it on tap at a restaurant that touted how ice cold they kept their beers with Ice Cobra taps. I passed.

512 IPA taste best when its mid summer till the end of the year. This is when they finally tweak their recipe the right amount to adjust for the variation in hop variations from the previous year. It also taste a little strange at the begiining of the year when the start on their new harvest of hops. So far fire eagle has been consistent , but they are stil very young brewery. To me when 512 is hitting it's the best single IPA in Texas BAR NONE!
