Depends on what else $70 can get you. $70 gets me 22 cans of Heady, so I couldn't justify spending that on a single Chocolate Rain. Save your money and go after the next release.

I wouldn't pay the normal retail price for it.

If you pull the trigger on RS, I know a few trustworthy people who might be able to do it. I can't, I'm busy enough doing it for 3 different groups of people.

    Cheers

Buy it, let it sit for a few years, then consume it. This way you are not disappointed because at that point the $70 would be a distant memory and it would be just another beer in your cellar.

I live in fl and I'd pay 60 $ for a BA Hunahpu. Lol. Give me 4. But for real if you can't get a beer through a good trading partner then you may have to pay a little to try some rare wants ( ive done this a couple times). This is why its nice to have some good trading partners or attend some big beer events where people break out the big guns. If you really want it the hell ....get it!

Not to be attacking, but that is like buying a house and selling it for the price you bought it at even though it has appreciated in value. Kind of silly in my opinion.

A $36 dollar beer is far different than a 150K house. I maintain and upgrade my home; roof, patio, deck, a pool maybe.....I'm not going to pop the cap on Chocolate Rain and throw a shot of cognac in there and put the cap back on and triple the value. Your argument is invalid.

Ok how about a baseball card that you bought for a $30 and now is worth $300. In your theory, you would still trade it for original value?

I say no just on principle. If you buy it, it's because you have high expectations based on anecdotal evidence. Once you drink it, you'll be naturally disappointed.

Just buy a hershey bar and hold it above your head in 100 degree heat.

So, how many BM's did you get for that case of heady trade?

My point is, I don't value money. Most people put too much of a value on the dollar bill and their possessions and people are out for theirs. If I had an active interest in baseball cards, which I don't, no, I wouldn't trade it for original value. Why? Baseball cards have a massive following with guides, certifications, auctions dating back to the first cards ever produced. Beer of any kind does not have a book where I can see the value of my 2008 Darkness, there's no MINT condition rating and scale. The prices people put on beer are absolutely arbitrary.

Even if the baseball card happens to be Babe Ruth shoving a cigar up a bus boy's butt, it's still not worth $300 dollars.

You're being obtuse. You obviously wouldn't trade it for garbage, but you'd trade it for something of similar value. No one is going to trade CR for $40 of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, but $40 of Hill Farmstead IPAs or Heady Topper? Sure, someone would do that.
