Anyone own one of these bad boys? I was given this by my wife's uncle a few days back, I think it is cool as hell. Measured it out last night it holds about 9 cups with a little room for head space. It is made from the thickest glass I've seen on a beer bottle. Should I anticipate any problems with bottle conditioning? My most recent batches are probably too big for my keg so it might come in super handy instead of just bottling a six or twelve. TIA

Might take a little longer to bottle condition, but otherwise should be fine. I have several huge grolsh bottles and a few half gallon flip tops. No problems.

Nice good to hear. I didn't realize they were somewhat common had never seen or heard of them before

My brother had a massive grolsh flip top over a gallon once. Sadly it broke at a beer pong party, oh well.

    Why would it take longer?

Why, perhaps because there is more beer to carb? My bottling experience has shown to wait on the bigger bottles longer,or just drink them last. So, you could say it's my opinion by experience. You have a different view?

Hmm. I have no empirical data to back this up, but I would have assumed that since the ratio of priming sugar to live yeast would be the same regardless of the size of the bottle, that conditioning time would remain the same. Then again, I should know better than to assume...

There's more beer, but also more yeast. In my bottling days, I split batches between 12 ounce bottles and 22 ounce bottles and never noticed a difference. Can't honestly say I actively looked for a difference though.

I've used them a few times (I've got five or six of the 1L size), but have had occasional issues with flat beer. Do yourself a favor and replace the seal and you should be good to go.
