Spoiler alert: you could go your entire life without ever once ingesting that and still die. In fact, I think science has proven that avoiding it from birth will actually kill you within a matter of days.

    As always, moderation is key.

It doesn't surprise me. Most British dark beers were coloured with caramel 20 years ago.

I think this article is made of complete win. I just love it when BMC is bashed on for any and all reasons. The scum suckers are out for a buck, not for a good product. DOWN WITH THE CORPS.

So much stupid in that article and all over in general.

I'm not the smartest person in the world (far from it), but my God. How gullible can people be?

So I suppose that "craft" brewers set out to make a loss?
BMC make an excellent product in the eyes of the overwhelming majority of beer drinkers. It's well brewed and involves a level of quality control beyond the reach of most brewers. It's made within the FDA guidelines.
Just because it's a business and brews a product which neither you or I would use to put out a fire doesn't alter these facts.

ok so GMO = Bad per the article but what cracks me up is all this time I could be deicing aircraft with Corona! who says the Deice guy's job is "safety sensitive"? That stuff's waaay cheaper than type 1!

This one threw me. I'm almost positive I've ingested some HFCS in the last 24 hours and I didn't have to buy it off the black market either...

Apparently there is an alarming number of youth today using this to "get high". It can be quite addictive, users often cannot go even a couple hours without getting their fix. It's sad, really.

When in doubt....go to the source. Never rely on secondary information. Guinness is my first beer love, so I wrote a letter to Guinness asking about the claim that they use fish bladders and high fructose corn syrup. I did not write the other brewers, mostly because I hate domestics and could care less what they do. As someone that has owned a homebrewing supply store that sold brewing ingredients, we did sell isinglass, as some of you know this helps improve clarity, much the way gelatin finings (which are powdered cow bones) and Irish Moss does.
This is the reply i just received from the Guinness customer service department:

    Dear Rachel,

Thank you for taking time to contact Guinness. Your feedback is important to us.

In response to your inquiry, no, we do not use high fructose corn syrup in Guinness Beer anywhere around the world. As to your question regarding the use of isinglass. Isinglass a byproduct of the fishing industry, is used widely in the brewing industry. At Guinness we use isinglass as a fining agent to help remove yeast from all Guinness brewed beers. Although it is extensively refined before use, we accept that some minor traces of isinglass may subsequently remain in the finished product. If there is anything else we could help you with now or in the future, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Once again, thank you for contacting Guinness.

    Sincerely,

    John

I think some DFH, Stone, etc. beers should be on the list too, sugar bombs.
