9 Months later an Extra!!! (Doh!)

    Figured I would share my idiotic move from 9 months ago...

    MADhombrewer and I executed a trade around opening day of the 2012 MLB season this past March. We exchanged some boxes and I received what I considered a very generous box..... Life moves on until today... I have a closet in my basement where I keep all my trading supplies (boxes, bubble wrap, peanuts, etc) and I ventured down there to grab some stuff for a box that needed to head out today....

    I found the perfect sized box for the bottles I needed to send and guess what was still inside? (tucked into the corner) A wonderful can of IPA..... Doh...... Never saw it when I opened the box in March. Confirmed via beermail that this was, in fact, from MADhomebrewer.... What a dope I am...

    Anyone else make a similar bone head move?

    I got a can of Bomb Lager that a trading partner of mine sent along by mistake. It was under packing peanuts in a re-used 12 slotted box. I almost missed it myself actually. It was a pretty deep slot for a 12oz can. When I thanked him for the extra, he had no clue what I was talking about. We chalked it up to him missing it in a previous trade.

    To bad it was an IPA and not a barrel aged imp stout or something. I will wrap a little less inconspicuously next time. :wink: Cheers!

    Done the same with an IPA 3 months ago. I sent the box to a regular and didnt realize that there was a bottle still in the box. he asked me "why the fuck did you send me such an old IPA?" The best by date was June of 2011. Shit happens

    I received a box from a regular partner in CT. Thing was packed to the brim with all sorts of extras, but the box was pretty beat up when it arrived. After unloading, i placed the box in the outside trash to be picked up the next day.

    Well, that next morning, I was packing up a box and needed some filler. Went out to the trash to grab some packing material from that box, and wrapped up in there was a Captain Lawrence IIPA. I saved here minuted before the trashman arrived. Immediately texted my partner who got a good laugh

    I sent a crazy extra, a Cuvee De Castleton, in a small trade (along with other extras), because it was on his page as his biggest want, and never received thanks for it. Inquired, he looked again, and it wasn't there. I figured the box was opened by UPS employee, and it was taken, unlikely as that seemed. A week later he wrote me he found it. Small box, don't know how it could have hid that well, but guess it did.

    I had a similar experience. Went in the basement to find a box to wrap x-mas presents in. A 2-bottle shipper was the perfect size. When I took the holders out, I found some coasters from The Bruery laying at the bottom. Oops!

    Sadly, I just popped the can and it's a shell of it's former self.. One whiff and it's clear that it's very old.

    Totally my fault and not a commentary on the beer itself. Now I'm upset all over again.. :flushed::flushed::slight_frown::flushed::flushed:
