"Anne Becerra is still shocked that she's been able to turn her love for craft beer into a career. She was the first female Certified Cicerone in NYC and has worked at craft beer bars in Manhattan including The Ginger Man for over 5 years, and more recently Blind Tiger and The Pony Bar. Anne was named one of the "Heroes of the Craft Beer Movement" by Vanberg and DeWulf, has helped organize major beer festivals. In addition to slinging brews in the bar, she frequently teaches beer classes, conducts tastings and serves as a beer judge for competitions."

I know it is hard to believe, but not all craft beer aficionados and professionals are BA's and may have different tastes and priorities then the folks(myself included) on here

Moron seems a bit harsh for someone liking what you don't.

I agree. Plus I always like articles like this because they usually recommend beers I haven't heard of. I know all too well what BA likes and doesn't like.

He is from Oklahoma give him a break, he may not have known that women are allowed to work as writers, or maybe he knows men named Anne. Who knows?

The only legit one on that list (IMHO) is Barrel Noir. It comes the closest to BCBS in terms of taste and mouthfeel as anything else I've had. Almanac makes some good stuff. Their Bourbon Sour Porter ranks up there with Supplication.

I've only heard good things about Straight Jacket, including one blind testing where it won out against King Henry. Of course, that's just one comparison, but it still speaks to SJ's quality.

Maybe I'll finally get Hitachino XH and Ola Dubh, saw them just last week.

I thought Black Note was pretty close to BCBS, definitely in mouthfeel but in flavor too.

It not a TOP 9 list it is just "Here are nine of our favorites to seek out" list. So yeah it is a list of beers these guys had and liked once.

She's not saying they are the best out there, just that in her opinion they are outstanding. Also, to her credit, it's not just a list of rare BB Stouts and Barleywines. Various beers and barrels they are aged in.

Agree. I get some of the criticism from folks, but many of these beers live up to the title "9 outstanding barrel aged beers." The title is not the "9 best barrel aged beers."

BA Santa's Little Helper is particularly underrated, IMHO. Black Ops has its fans for sure. And while Victory/Earth Earth and Flame probably won't win any awards compared to Backwoods Bastard or Wulver, it was a great beer.

    Geez. Chill people.

Like, yep, it's just my opinion. But a strong opinion, of which I don't have too many when it comes to beer.

that's how these threads go here. too many people think the articles they read are an attack, or insult, directed specifically at them.

"HOW DARE SHE TELL ME WHAT THE 9 BEST BARREL AGED BEERS ARE!! SHE'S A DUMB *****!"

@RobinLee, my first reply and perhaps even this follow up may be a bit too snarky. Hope I didn't come on too strong. They're not excellent beers, and it really is just a preference.

Not at all, of course it's all subjective.
