I've got a 90 min from September that I never got around to drinking just because it was too boozy for me and a burton baton for the same reason from December. My palate has developed since then but are these brews still going to be good or should I toss them?

Try it. If you don't like it, toss it.

Drink them. Burton holds up for years. 90 might lose a touch of hops, but it will by no means go bad. Booziness will likely still be present in the Burton.

Toss them in my direction. I'll dispose of them for you.

Burton is already aged.. It doesn't have much hop character to lose. It will be good.

With the 90-minute, just drink it..

Agreed on the Burton Baton- it will have character to spare.

The 90 Minute tends to lose the WOW factor before it's two months old, but holds up surprisingly well after that. It will be fine.

I've forgotten about a 90 min for over a year. Had it and while a different beer, they were still very good (obviously a lot more malt forward and hops somewhat diminished). Had a Burton over a year and half old and same. Wife (who doesn't like hoppy beers) really liked them.

My review of the 90 min was written when the bottle was about 7 mos. old. I bought a case fresh and spread drinking it out of several months to track what was going to happy. There is still a lot of hop flavor and sweet malt, but not much in the way of bitterness. You should go buy a fresh one, invite a friend over, and do a side-by-side tasting to see what changes time had brought to the beer.

As others have said letting a Burton Baton age is just fine.

I've had year old 90 minutes in my fridge that I enjoyed very much, I like that beer any way I can get it. I also recently cracked open a Burton Baton from 3/2010...it was delicious. Ymmv.

Also had a fresh draft pour of Burton Baton at my buddy's bar in New Paltz, I couldn't believe how bitter it was. Completely different than fresh bottles, but it makes sense.

Agreed with most everyone else, 90 minute should be perfectly fine. And the Burton Baton will age with the best of them.

Because 90 minute has a pretty strong and smooth malt profile, I'd imagine it may well still be good. Burton Baton will definitely be fine; you can age that one on purpose. I love it fresh, but I also have a bunch in the cellar for a later date.

    Enjoy!

Don't have much to contribute to this thread except to say I love burton baton. I would assume the fresher the better but would have no prob drinking one a few months old

Burton Baton is actually a little better after it gets some age on it. Doesn't have to be years, but 6 months to a year or so and it's better than fresh. Mellows and the oak comes through.

Yeah, I like Burton Baton with a little age. Actually have a 2 year old bottle in the basement. Need to open that sucker.

90 Minute is a IPA that unlike the typical IPA, doesn't get worse with age. OK, it's gets worse as an IPA but it becomes something still worth drinking. If that make sense? Bottom line, different, but still pretty darn good.

just to respectfully take the other side, i had a fresh one not too long ago and loved the combo of strong 90 with the oak aging. it was a magical blend. i felt like i was drinking it the way it was meant to be. i'm not sure that "mellowing" would be "better".

    Got it. Tastes are different.
I like it either way. I just notice when I have one with some age on it, I enjoy it more.
Burton Baton and Ten Fidy are the only couple of beers that I've had enough of with varying age to really have an opinion on aging. Most other stuff, I can't wait very long.

Back to the original question - it should be just fine, maybe different, as it gets older.
