    Often, imported breweries have a casual take on the NEIPA category, where the flavors are a bit more restrained, as opposed to in your face. Hilma had a nice bitterness when coming out of the gate, and a lingering vanilla/orange-creamy presence as it lounged. The sweetness was sensible and elusive; it was layered, balanced, it was good – a gimmicky refinedness. If this were a collaborative effort with Tired Hands or Monkish, as with the milkshakes, then one might actually have a palatable “Happy Meal,” where there is nothing subtle about it

    Well, Blank Slate in Ohio just shut down, so I guess now that can take the name if they want...

    I’m as positive as they come but The key to the bathroom is awful. Ashy and metallic.

    I really enjoyed that beer back when I had it in September. I suppose I could see the “ashy.” I thought the stout was roasty. It was also bitter. All of the advertised flavors came through to me, so I thought it was fun. Did not get any metallic notes. Sucks.
