Thinking of everyone connected who lost their jobs, livelihoods and homes.

Sad to hear. Owners seem like good people. Hopefully they have good insurance and can reestablish the business. Not the greatest beer, but good food, fun space and very kid-friendly. Used to go there semi-regularly on Sundays for dinner and kids bingo, pre-pandemic.

News this morning talked about explosions and one of the brewery walls collapsing -- no mention of the source(s) of the explosions.

(Going to read the Times article now)

There was mention that the explosions were cylinders of CO2/N2 bursting from the heat of the fire.

Sad for the owners. Hopefully they come out ahead with insurance money. That space is cursed and needs to be rezoned to a parking lot.

Am I missing something? Weren’t they trying to raise $100,000 and now they are trying for $200,000? I’m impressed they have so many donors. I feel less guilty not supporting the place when it was around. I just couldn’t get past the wacky built in tip pricing.

The GoFundMe was not created by the brewery themselves, but people who want to help them out. It is pretty common to keep raising the goal as long as people are still willing to donate.

This feels like all of the wrong things to focus on right now.

You are right. A brewery burning down is insignificant in the whole scheme of things as compared to what is going on in the Ukraine right now.

Perhaps the lack of a fire at 3 Floyds could worked to Twisted Hippo’s benefit. FFF is only using some of their space right now. Twisted hippo can move in!

I am slightly distressed by Twisted Hippo losing its brewpub due a spreading conflagration from an adjoining edifice.
If the principals behind Twisted Hippo throw in the towel because of this, I understand. :grimacing:
But it is not as bad as another brewery. It was packaging beer (brewed at Great Central?). It can still get income from that.
I like the scheme of tips being computed into the tab. It is something that takes my {past} memories of being too muddled from all the beverages I had consumed such that I could not compute the 'correct' tip amount. :confounded:
So I went there a few times. Here are selected photographs of the venue. I have more photographs of the beers, but I suspect you would first want to glimpse these.
