Going to be in San Francisco Mar 14th and 15th, and I'm staying about 6 blocks from Mikkeller, so it's on my agenda but I was curious about a couple things: 1) Has anyone been down to the sour room and looked at the bottle list lately? Is there anything notable still available or did it get pretty well hammered when the bar opened? 2) How crowded will it be Friday afternoon vs. Friday night vs. Saturday afternoon vs. Saturday night? I don't expect to walk in and find it empty but I'm trying to decide when will be best to hit it.
It's always pretty busy on Friday and Saturday nights, but usually a couple of bar seats can be attained without much waiting. It's definitely more my speed during the day, but I don't recall what time they open the Sour Room. 7:00 PM, maybe? Hopefully, someone can chime in on that for you. As for the list, they still had some walez, bro last time I went down there, which was a few months ago, and I imagine they still do mostly because of prices on the really rare/vintage stuff.
the prices on their regular taps is already high, I can't imagine what the rare bottle list prices are going to be. Also, they should really start selling the GOOD glass.
I went on a Saturday afternoon during beer week (seven of us) and had no problem getting seats, there were people waiting for seats by the time we left a few hours later. I don't think I'd be particularly inclined to be wandering the area late on a Saturday night, but that may just be me! The sour room was closed for a private event when I was there, but given how high prices were upstairs, they'd have to be serving Pappy aged unicorn tears for me to drop the money in the sour room!
