sorry if this is well-trodden material (trust me, New England threads are filled with questions about Heady Topper) ...

What's the going rate for a Deal with the Devil? Is it around, available, easy to find or ridiculously the opposite?

I've never seen a bottle anywhere and I live in Washington state actively pursuing barley wines. For me, it leans in the ridiculously hard (impossible right now), although I'll follow this thread to hopefully find out I'm wrong.

Gonna have to hop on a flight up to Anchorage for this one, I suspect. Never seen it in Seattle.

30 a bottle is what I'm hearing, it's never hit shelves anywhere but AK as far as I know. I know this years batch was a little bigger than b1 but I don't know the exact numbers.

Some were sold in OR and Florida last year at least. Probably some other places too. I think everywhere in WA abided by the pour only rule.

But for OP, batch 2 hasn't hit the continental US yet (that I know of), so either trade with AK folks or wait a bit longer.

I believe it showed up in CA just this past week. (I'm following a couple San Francisco establishments for my upcoming trip.)

I live in the Anchorage area and there are still several places that have this on the shelves. Anywhere from $25 (special sales price) to $30 normal price. I'll ask around and see when it is hitting the lower 48 and where.

there's a shit load of this coming to shelves across the country, just have some patience and expect to drop $30.

copy-paste from a previous post of mine...

    from their facebook, last january:

"For all you Deal with the Devil Freaks out there, all of the beer that was released in Anchorage has been sold:slight_frown: There are 63 cases that are heading south in about 3 weeks. Not sure where they will end up yet. We will be sending a keg down for the Hard Liver fest in Seattle. Some good news is that we are working on possibly brewing 100 bbls of this beer so more can enjoy it. There are a lot of logistics in pulling this off with such a big beer, so stay tuned:slight_smile:"

if there is indeed 100 barrels...

    1 barrel = 117 L
    100 barrels = 11,700 L
    11,700 L / 0.750 L = 15,600 bottles
    15,600 bottles = 1,300 cases (12 bottles/case)

not sure how many states get anchorage, but if we can grab several cases in ptown I'd be happy. Just hope they get put out to be sold. 30 bucks or so will sell though not sure how fast or how many will be put out.

I live in Sitka, but visit Juneau quite often. Juneau got wrecked with this beer this year. It goes for $31 pretty much all around town. Last year, it was ridicuously hard to find in SE Alaska, but hat's off to Anchorage for upping their batch this year. IMO, its worth the hype.

On May 1, Anchorage Brewing FB said the Batch 2 was 85 barrels. Not sure if they were standard 117 L barrels - the photos show barrels that look bigger than that to me, but I've made a point to never understand metric.

Batch 2 is drinking great - hot, but nowhere near what you'd expect for 17%.

Heard through grapevine that only San francisco got this in ca. Tried to find some over holidays in socal and was told multiple times that only SF got it. Luckily got hooked up by local bottleshop buddy since they quickly sold out (held 1 for me and 1 for my future best man for xmas).

I can honestly say that I am enjoying this batch #2 at release far more than batch #1. I think batch #1 will age better though. I did not find batch #2 to be hot at all. Smooth as can be if you ask me.
