    1. You got your money's worth when you made beer with it. Any use afterwards is just gravy.
    2. If the starches have been converted properly, and you get something like 75% efficiency from your mash, there is only like 25% of the calories left in the spent mash, and a lot of fiber. You wanna help those kids, check this out www.givedirectly.org

    One: I toss it in the garbage. It's pretty flavorless so I'm not going to cook with it, and composting it just seems like an invitation to rodents. Starving kids in India? I'll send 'em a beer.

    Two: Completely unimportant. They will settle to the bottom of the carboy.

    Three: Putting ice into your wort to cool it is a bad idea. You want to do a full boil. Using unsanitized water to make the ice is an even worse idea, but probably not by too much, since I imagine the temperature shock of dropping into the boiling wort would kill damn near anything that might've been living in the water. Obviously, if you're just talking about ice used in an ice bath that never actually touches the wort, it makes no difference.
