Met my dad for an after work brew(s). I had the IPA on cask (can't remember which it was, something I didn't recognize), an Optimator Doppelbock, a Brooklyn Pilsner and a shot of Balvenie 12 year old scotch. When I came home I cracked a bomber of Stone Smoked Porter. As I did so my wife said, "A package came for you today." I scurried into the other room like a kid on Christmas morning and checked the box.... it was from Thijs and here's what was inside: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/313/1545 Jesus Tap Dancing Christ
it's always fun to have a great beer night at the bar and then to come home and cap it all off with something delicious in the fridge. A comparable night for me was Resin, Nugget Nectar, 120 Minute, Union Jack ( all @ the Ruck, Troy NY ) , and Various Brown's Brewing Beers at the brewpub on my friend's birthday. We closed it out with a shared bottle of Sucaba at home ( after a cab ride ) and all was right with the world.
He had two Long Trail Double White's and that same shot of scotch (scotch was his idea). He's not much into craft yet, but he wants to get more into it. I have been showing him the way slowly. He's not into anything bitter. So far his all time favorite was Souther Tier Creme Brulee, which is sweeter than candy in my book. But he digs White beers, so I keep feeding them to him. I am going to give him a Saison Dupont next, I think he'll dig it.
This brought me back. My buddy and I used to watch this move every Friday night for like 2 straight years. Awesome.
He never was a beer drinker. Back in the day, I think he'd put down a sixer of Lowenrbrau over the course of a month. But I am changing all that, I am changing all that indeed.
I can get Heady Topper, Hill Farmstead or Lawson's any time I want. The best beer I ever had was a Labatts Blue I had with my dad at the Seven Dwarf's restaurant in London Ontario on a hot day.
