So do you think that "Rotation" may be the next in a never-ending series of Russian River sours?

It's not so much the hunt itself as it is the cost of the hunt. Sometimes I don't even understand why I bother trading, especially when much of the stuff acquired through trades has equal-or-greater counterparts on the shelf at stores in my hometown :-x

    Yes.

There's also those who will rant about any suggestion of raising prices so that there aren't these huge problems with lines, limits, etc. and instead they spend more money in driving around town to buy the single bottle here, there, etc... plus there's the value of one's time which is often left out in this calculation.

Say there's a train headed for three cases of KBS strapped to the tracks. Now, say that you have the power to divert that train to a second set of tracks with three rare 'Loons on them. Would you throw that switch?

Throw the switch?. Heck no. I would throw a long metal pole across the track touching both rails and set off the emerg. signal in the engineers room. He throws the brakes, I have enough time to get all of them off tracks to safety.

'Round these parts, we keep out Phil101 thought experiments in a pretty small box. No metal poles! The brakes are completely shot! The engineers have all passed out from smoke inhalation!

Ah in that case there is likelihood they will be awakened, and able to avoid asphyxia, when I derail the train with an impoper switch, so that it may avoid hitting the beer. Of course there is a chance the derailment will kill them, but seems as if, having passed out from smoke inhalation, their deaths already were assured. So the derailment may actually save their lives, as well as saving the beer.

Upon further investigation, the engineers have passed out from drinking; they'll be fine, but they'e out for a bit. There are no switches. The train goes full-speed through track A or track B.

No switch? Choice then is made, no? Wait and see which beers are unbroken, choose those.

Imperfect circumstance will never allow the construct to force the choice one is hoping it will force.

Jeez, Dave- just break the 'loons already  . Make off with the KBS, grab a few Tilquins off of the shelf, and toast to making the best of a bad situation.

If Zeno's train never makes it to its junction, does Dave still get to drink rare beer?

And how could there exist a "common good"! The expression is a self-contradiction: what can be common has ever but little value. In the end it must be as it is and has always been: great things are for the great, abysses for the profound, shudders and delicacies for the refined, and, in sum, all rare things for the rare. -- Nietzsche.

I think he may have been onto something...

I'd be skeptical of a god that allegedly said this to me, but at the same time, also creates mass quantities of Bud Light.

So I'd keep drinking on my own.

I drink Michigan. Why? I like great beer and loving supporting the local economy. That is why I like craft. I like to know my money is not going to some corporate snob.

I find that I'm not free to choose which is the best unless I know that though my own experience which is the best for me to choose....and the present is the only time which I can truly choose so....I have to figure out how to drink all great craft beer at once.....maybe I have this wrong....but Pliny wasn't always the top rated beer and its likley Heady will someday be topped....so there will always be better beer?
