Greetings South-Atlantic forum, Pittsburgher here visiting Charleston for the first time with my girlfriend the first week of May. After browsing the forums and doing some research we have a rough itinerary. We'll be ubering/busing/walking, we don't plan to rent a car unless absolutely needed. Wanted to get some feedback if there's anything I missed or should skip.

    Breweries:
Westbrook - we're staying in Mount Pleasant so this is an easy one, limited hours it seems though. Plan to get cans to go there as well.

Revelry Brewing and Palmetto Brewing - both look to be walking distance from goat.sheep.cow which we planned on stopping for lunch one day.

Freehouse Brewing - planning to go Friday (5/5) as there's live music and Big Boned BBQ there. Would it be worth it to go to Holy City after? Seems pretty close

CHS Fermentory - Would like to check it out but it's not that close to anything else we had planned. Worth making the trip? Anything else in the vicinity?

    Any must hit beer bars?

Thanks in advance. If anyone finds themselves in Pittsburgh feel free to reach out, we have a nice beer scene these days.

The best thing you can do is hit up all the social media outlets for these places to check for events/happenings/releases/special tappings.

Charles Towne Fermentory - absolutely worth the trip if you like NE style IPA's or other hazy goodness. To be honest, I'd put it at the top of your list of breweries to visit. They open at noon on Saturday and Sunday now so perfect to stop in after brunch . I saw you mentioned Big Boned BBQ @ Freehouse...he also goes to the Fermentory most Fridays and Sundays. Pro-tip: if you want growler fills then take widemouth ones...lid the same size as the standard 64oz ones.

Westbrook - I don't think cake will be out yet, however, they usually have a good bit of stuff that's available to purchase to-go.

Two Blokes and Ghost Monkey - both are very close to Westbrook so may as well hit them too. I'd give the nod to Two Blokes though if you are tight on time.

Freehouse - Incredible view of the Ashley River. Usually 10 or so on tap with a few bottles for purchase (some to-go and some for on-site consumption only). Try the whiskey barrel aged stout if you happen visit. $10/500ml bottle and pretty tasty.

Holy City - if you visit Freehouse you should go to HC as well...it's very close, but not really walkable due to the surrounding areas. Usually have around 20 on tap, good selection of stuff to go (hint: BA Collision Stout bottles were still there last week), and they have a full kitchen on site.

COAST - pretty limited hours (Thurs-Sat) but buying to-go bottles of their BA Blackbeerd is worth the trip! That beer came out stellar this year. Usually they have 5 or so on tap and some cans/bottles to-go as well.

Revelry and Palmetto - both solid, I'd give the nod to Revelry though but I've heard Palmetto has stepped their game up.

    Beer bars:
Edmunds Oast - MUST GO! 40+ on tap, awesome bottle list, and usually a good selection of in-house brewed beer. They are killing it and the food is top notch as well. PS - it's walking distance from goat.sheep.cow as well ;-)

Closed for Business - can be hit and miss but they usually have a decent selection (on upper King St.)

The Craftsmen - big list of bottled and on-tap beer, really good selection, and good food to boot (near the city market)

House of Brews - located off Coleman Blvd. in Mount Pleasant on the way to Sullivan's Island. Usually 8 beers on tap and a really good selection of bottles and cans. Super chill environment that is literally a house with beer shelves in all the rooms.

Craft Conundrum - 100+ on tap and the owners are some of the nicest people you will meet. However, since you're going to be in Mount Pleasant it would be a hike for you as it is located at the other end of I-526 over in West Ashley.

I know that's a lot of info but hopefully it helps!

No problem, there's definitely no shortage of good beer down here.

Great ideas above! My only addition would be a trip to 'Bottles' since you will be in Mt. Pleasant, just down the road from House of Brews. Locally owned, they're just a bottle shop (with a limited growler station), but will have lots of local stuff (all of the canned Westbrook, Holy City, COAST, Palmetto, etc.) and other great brews you may not find back home.

Bottles shops: Brew cellar and bottles.
    Bars: craftsmen, edmunds oast.
    Breweries: Westbrook and chs fermentory.

    That's all you will need.
