I am visiting the University of São Paulo next week for about a week. Just started searching for interesting bars, bottle shops, and breweries to check out. I'm interested in local stuff and also imported stuff that's interesting. So far it looks like EAP Empório Alto dos Pinheiros is close and looks to have a pretty great tap list. Any other suggestions in the area? I won't have too much time to travel too far from the area around the university but may be willing to if it's excellent. Thanks in advance! Also willing to setup an IP trade for someone interested in some stuff from the States (I'm coming from the northeast).
Hi there!!! I live in Brasilia, but I often visit Sao Paulo. As a craft beer lover, I would recommend Emporio Alto dos Pinheiros for sure. Pretty close to EAP there are also 2 other good places to visit: a) BrewDog Bar (Add. Rua dos Coropés, 41 - Pinheiros; https://www.brewdog.com/bars/worldwide/sao-paulo) 2 miles away from USP b) Delirium Cafe (Rua Ferreira de Araújo, 589 - Pinheiros; http://www.deliriumcafesp.com.br/) 1.5 miles of USP If you have the time, there are other 2 good options, not that close though: c) Cervejoteca Campo Belo (Rua João de Sousa Dias, 371 - Campo Belo - 8 miles of USP). A bottle store. If you wanna visit it, let me know that I'll call the owner and ask him to save some good bottles for you) d) Frango (Largo da Matriz de Nossa Senhora do Ó, 168 - Freguesia do Ó - 9 miles). A mix of bar n bottle shop I can also suggest some of the best Brazilian craft beers so you know what to buy and possibly take back home. It will be a pleasure to help you get the best of Sao Paulo's craft beer scene. I own you this, since you Americans always treat me so well in my beers trips (I just arrived from an awesome trip to Denver's GABF) Ill send you my phone number through PM. Feel completely free to contact me. Cheers, Fabricio (instagram: fabcvel) PS: Bring the beers!! I have a good selection of American, European n Brazilian bottles for trade.
Awesome, I didn't realize there was a Brew Dog in São Paulo that's awesome! Definitely have to check out that and the Delirium Cafe. The first bottle shop you mention looks pretty great too! Depending on time I might have to check it out as well. I'll PM you more details. Thanks!
