And, he'll enjoy the aspect of paying some SoCal lawyer tons of money for his DUI, cuz ya gotta drive everywhere in Sandy Ego. Plus, in all honestly, Seattle has a better beer scene. SD might have more hyped breweries and beers, but they do not have as good of a beer culture as Seatthole.

OP, this is one of my favorite crawls in Seattle. I have friends in bands that play Ballard, and I'll catch a ride down to the gigs. If they go down early enough, I do a variations on this when I can:

As long as you're going to be here a while, you can probably find time for one of my favorite Seatthole pub crawls. Start in the Fremont neighborhood, hit Fremont Brewing and Brouwers Cafe. Then just walk down that main street (36th?). If you're feeling dehydrated, hit whatever bar looks interested. You will walk right past Hale's Brewery, they don't get a lot of on-line love, but I think it's worth a stop. Keep truckin' on and you'll come Maritime Pacific Brewery, and their pub. Similar story to Hale's, But I generally like their brews well enough, and I've found the beer to generally good. Continue strollin', make a couple turns, and you'll find yourself in Ballard.

In Ballard, you've got more options than time. I'm a big fan of Noble Fir, on The Ave, but there are plenty of new breweries that I haven't checked out, and lots of bars. Cab or bus back to your bed.

I've not yet been to The Yard. Need to correct that.

Another good one is the relatively new Metro 40. Hit stadium Elysian and Collins Pub then get on the first northbound 40 stop and ride by or within a few blocks of Pine Box, Wurst Place, Brave Horse, all the Fremont stuff, and all the Ballard stuff. Might as well throw in Pub at Piper's Creek and Northgate Ram if Keven Forhan is still the brewer. It could take days to take in the quality beer options on that route.
