    That's not Cuvee Rene.

I'm really into sour ales the last few months, and from what I hear, gueze beers pack a huge punch. I've already tried Cuvee Rene and while I thought it was pretty good, it lacked the punch I was expecting. If there's not a lot of options for real Gueze, what are some American Wild Ale's that are similar to the style? I've already tried most stuff from Russian River with Beatification being my favorite so far.

Agree on this. I tried this the other week was pretty tasty.

Not sure on what's available around you and not a Gueze, but Cuvee de Jacobins Rogue is a readily available great Flanders Red.

While not a gueze, New Belgium Lips of Faith La Folie has a strong sour punch you might be looking for. Also Jolly Pumpkin makes some fine sours (I've only had the Oro de Calabaza and La Roja so far, but I really enjoyed those).

Also not a gueuze, but a really fine, available, and relatively inexpensive funky sour is Petrus Aged Pale.

I've seen Oude Geuze Boon at most higher quality liquor stores.

Oude Gueuze Beersel is the one I see/get most often. I just had a Cuvee Rene the other night, and, while delicious, it's not quite as gnarly as Beersel, Boon, St Louis...

This is crazy, because NJ typically gets a pretty great selection of Gueuzes and Lambics, but I've never seen it on a store shelf.

Tilquin's importer doesn't distribute to NJ :slight_frown: Somebdy just told me who it was, but I can't find the post.

And good to have you back!
