just to add a data point, ive got an open trade of fen tao and la vie en rose for an aaron.

 

I don't know if you were talking to my trading partner, but I traded an Aaron $4$ (along with a few other things) with BB4D (2012 vintage, which is a big deal for me). BB4D is an alltime favorite of mine, and '12 is my favorite bottling. The trade started with a BA Everett $4$ and he really wanted an Aaron so I grabbed one for him. Both parties are very happy with the trade. I still have a few bottles of Aaron for "special barleywine" treats for myself, but the trade let me grab enough bb4d to get me through the winter.

I also did another trade including an Aaron on my side and bb4d on the other, but that is a larger trade and a lot harder to gauge exactly what is going for what. One last Aaron went to a friend at cost and the rest are getting drank.

Yes, I was able to do KH for Aaron. Had multiple people interested in that offer. Should get done no problem.

 

I personally enjoyed it a ton. Better than any other barelywine i've ever had quite frankly. Granted i've only had 8-10 barelywines in my life and it's not my favorite style but this was done right. Aside from me liking HF. Label aside I enjoyed it.

without having done a side-by-side it's hard for me to say it's the best I've ever had, etc but I will say this: it's the most unique I've had - I never knew a barleywine could be soooooo thick! yummy drool

 

I received the Assassin, trade was expanded from there and all things equaled out although Neither of us were overly concerned we both got beers we wanted.

 

Would HF Peleg go 1:1 with Aaron? They are close to the same bottle count and price if I remember correctly.

 

Maybe, but I'd doubt it... Peleg seems to be one of HF's lowest rated beers ever...

 

I can't really say where it stands with other top BA barleywines but it would hold it's own in that lineup - doubt in my mind about that. I wouldn't trade Aaron 1:1 with Goose Island in a million years.

 

I would do that trade in a heartbeat. Having had both, granted they are different styles, Aaron is amazing!

 

I liked Peleg a lot, but Aaron is better by far. If anyone wants to get rid of their Peleg bottles; I'm here!

 

what are thoughts on Aaron for West Ashley? fair? short (on the Aaron side), short (on the W.Ashley side)?

 

I'd say short on Aaron side. A fair plus and it should get done I'd imagine.
