I heard rumors of a second ABZ (bottles, not growlers) after the whole fathers day incident -- is there any truth to this? Thanks in advance.

The word from people that work at CCB is yes, there will be BA MZ, but not until Dec/Jan.

No, aged barrel, they dig up old wood and make barrels out of it. Adds a nice 'funk' flavor.

That I have not heard, I do know there will be an Apple Brandy barleywine called "Leon" that is supposed to come out this week. Tried a snifter of it at thr brewery over the weekend and can confirm that it's delicious, probably the best barleywine I've ever had.

The Apple Brandy BA process would turn bud light into magic. When they do it to an already good beer (MZ) it feels like climbing mount Olympus and drinking liquid ambrosia with the gods.

The most terrible thing about the Apple Brandy CCB treatments is that I'm actually rather fond of Laird's Apple Brandy, but have never ever seen a bottle of it down here in FL. We've got Laird's Applejack, but that stuff is nothing compared to their apple brandy. Yet CCB can pull down barrel after barrel. It makes me just a bit sad that I can't buy the liquor the beer is aged on.

So Lairds is the AB barrel that CCB uses?

Got to try the AB Huna this past weekend. And I must say, it was the highlight of the weekend! If more AB stuff comes from CCB, I'm sure it will be tasty. Now a barleywine? My mouth is watering.

I know with their earlier apple brandy-aged releases they said they were aged on Lairds. It might have changed in the past two years, but I doubt it. They've done Warmer Winter Winter Warmer on the Laird's, and it's delicious.

From my understanding it is still Lairds. I want to lay one on its side, cut it open, and bathe in it.

The Laird's barrels they get are through Bella Vista, which is their distributor up here in Philly. Voodoo got some from them as well and is aging 3 different beers in them (Black Magick, BBVD and Gran Met) along with Buffalo Trace and PVW.

The MZ from Father's Day was Laird's, IIRC. And it was bleeping beautiful.

You could very well be correct, I'm just regurgitating gossip I hear at the brewery. Pretty much what these forums are used for, anyways, just gossip. I'll be the first to admit I definitely don't always have correct info, but these are not national security issues .
