Am I slow on the draw for this one? Some shops have hinted that they'll have Abraxas bottles sometime this upcoming week.

Yes, but it will be extremely limited in Madison. Not sure about other cities around WI.

I talked to the beer guy at my local shop today, and I am pretty sure that most, if not all, places in Madison that will be getting it will receive less than a case. Not a whole lot to go around.

A spot by me got 4 abraxas that he had committed already to regulars, but he did get a case of sump of which I was able to get a bottle.

Ridgeview Liquor in Green Bay had 4. Went to regulars.

4 seems to be the norm. I know in other cities around the country (except STL) the most any store got was 2 cases, so not too surprising in our first year of distro. Better hope you bought enough other stuff for your beer store to like you  (I'm crossing fingers but not holding out too much hope)

Wouldn't say anyone got "a bunch," but St Louis got more than everywhere else (meaning it may have made it to a shelf in a grocery store for a couple hours before being purchased; it's gone in minutes after delivery everywhere else). Price is generally $25-30/bottle.

And just heard another report of 4 bottles. But it sounds like (some folks at least) are getting a case of Sump with it. I still haven't seen it in MKE, but heard one REALLY small bottle shop got 4 bottles last week.

I've heard that in Madison, the distributor has bottles of Sump, they just haven't made it to the retailers yet. Could be any day now though.

5 bottles at $19.99 in Lake Geneva. All went to regulars.

My place got 4 bottles of Abraxas, but no mention of Sump. They are very small but have a very good relationship with the local distributor. $20 a bottle. I think all 4 bottles were offered to regulars.

That's just dumb. I'm not going to drive around town looking for a single Abraxas and/or Sump. Great beers to be sure, but if they're going to make it this hard, it's just not worth the effort.

Star got 4 bottles, all were gone before the delivery guy had left the store.

4 bottles. Seems like they did a good job spreading it around. The shop I hit up every other month or so in the city gave it all to regulars, can't complain about that.

Not to sound entitled, but I wish my shop would give locals a shot at super limited bottles. So sick of these fuckin' raffles, I'm batting 0-5 since stout season started.

You probably have a better shot in a raffle than you do by getting the chance to buy. A) they will go to comployees or B) you probably don't spend as much as some of the biggest spenders. Unless you are spending at least $200 a week at a shop, I would venture to say you are not a top 5 spender. Just my 2 cents.

Sure you can complain about it  I'd much rather see them do a raffle instead of just designating them for their VIP customers. I've never won a raffle either, but at least I know going in that the chances are slim so I don't get my hopes up.

Honestly, there is too much hype around this beer (and Perennial in general) that is almost solely driven by lack of availability. It's a good imperial stout but not worth chasing down trucks... and this is coming from a guy who looked all over the place for BCBS.

We've had perennial on the shelf for a while and it's always a hand sell. They make great beer but I think they're far from overhyped status.
