Can anyone confirm that Chicago is getting abraxas? I haven't been able to get a straight answer (with the exception of the keg at WLV) From any of my beer store guys. I already regret posting this as I don't want this too sell out around town because some chump like myself yaps about it on BA, but it may be my favorite beer this side of bramble rye (ya I said it, I loved that beer, it was my favorite bcbs variation and I've had like a dozen of em).
I can only assume you're referring to Perennial's Abraxas. I would suggest calling or emailing them and asking them if it will be coming to Chicago.
Alright that's what my other binnys guy thought too, he was saying its kinda a crapshoot what shows up from them. Considering we got heart of gold (whatever the wheat wine was called) I assume we'd get abraxas but ill send em an email and bother them. I figured if vav doesn't know for sure, nobody does. Thanks again
West Lakeview will have a keg the night before FoBAB, so yes. EDIT: lol, read OP. However, I would point out that Chicago has received at least one shipment of each Perennial seasonal/Cellar Series release.
Hot damn! Got to try some at DLD and I liked it wayyy more than Hunah/Mexican Cake (both of which are awesome). Tasted like straight cake-batter...and I know some things about cake-batter.
I got a case on order of both the ba and non at my local spot. I lined it up with the brewery, the brewery rep and my local shop to get my hands on it. Great brewery to deal with over the phone. Very informative and Emily is super to deal with.
I cracked one at dark lord day and told my friends and wife it was the greatest beer I ever had but I barely remember it. I was told I was spouting off about hunahpu sucking compared to this but it should be noted my wife carried me to my car.
Oh I have no idea. I just posted that they had that shindig going on. I don't frequent that establishment.
Sorry - was only quoting your post for the content, wasn't looking necessarily for you to answer. And for anyone else curious, it's gone. Called and asked if it was still on - "yeah I'm pretty sure." Went in and grabbed two seats at the bar, not that busy, played a game of chicken with bartenders seeing whether they would notice 2 new patrons or whether we would have to flag them down from their conversations with each other. We won after about 15 minutes, at which point we found out it was indeed kicked for some time. A+.
Unfortunately it kicked a bit before you were off work. Would have let ya know if I were sober and browsing the forums. It's a pitty because Vanilla Bean Abraxas was fucking amazing. I got 2 glasses before it kicked, but I would have sat at that bar all night if it hadn't.
