Abraxas in NYC

It should be (it as in the past), albeit in very limited quantities..not sure when the 2017 will arrive

 

Arrived right around this time (early December) in NYC last year. Most shops seemed to get it, but small quantities for sure (limits of 1pp, IIRC). Also, pretty pricey ($20+/bottle).

 

I vaguely remember getting my hands on it end of Dec and early Jan.

 

Perennial is in the city this week doing a couple tap takeovers so I assume it’s coming.

 

This Thursday at Owl Farm in Brooklyn you can even try Vanilla and Coffee variants!

 

Yup, will be going there. The times they've posted have varied. They messaged me 4pm, then the next day posted 7pm. Anyone hear an updated time as of today?

 

This week for Abraxas, Westbrook 7th Anniversary, among others

 

I'm hoping it's 7pm because I plan on dropping off some toys at Top Hops at 6pm first for its Firestone Walker event.

 

According to their instagram, Perennial will be there at 7:00, but the beers will be tapped at 4:00.

 

Bottles are in at Top Hops. Coffee and Vanilla we’re tapped at Owl Farm earlier today.

 

They were tapped when i got there before the event.

 

How's the crowd at OF? Thoughts on vanilla or coffee variants?

 

I was there around 4 when they were tapped and they’re tasting great. Seems like the pepper is masked by some of the coffee/vanilla, but they’re still incredibly smooth.

 

vanilla underwhelming. coffee pretty good as it warm up.

 

I found I liked vanilla better which surprised me. Coffee seemed sweeter, cloying even.

 

I drank coffee, then vanilla, then regular, and I thought the differences were super subtle. Perhaps too subtle. Agree on the warm up, can't be drinking icy stouts!

Crowd was basically the same as any Thursday at the Owl Farm, maybe a few extra people.

 

When I left Owl Farm last night around 10pm it was definitely getting crowded. Standing room only and had to weave your way out.

But I thought regular Abraxas was really well balanced. Coffee was straight cold brew for me. Vanilla flavor was almost non existent when cold and very subtle when warm. Good thing they had candles on the table to speed up the heating process.

 

Beer Table WTC has bottles. Didn't bother asking the price.

 

Anyone heard anything this year? Doesn't look like Owl Farm is having another event.. last year they had the Vanilla and Coffee variants which were awesome.
