Abyss 2013

From my research...it will be available the week of the 25th. We are actually getting a bit more than last year so hunting shouldn't be too hard. There might also be a very hoppy beer on that truck as well....it's all speculation though.

 

Wow it was? Man I think I ran to 6 stores just to manage 2 bottles. I only got my second bottle because I happened to walk into a store that wasn't expecting to get any because of the limited distribution to pickup something for the night and the just got in 1 case of Abyss. 3 years ago I remember seeing Mirror Mirror on shelves for a few months, that won't be the case I'm sure when that comes out next year

 

Yup, was for me. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I'm also a mid-level scout for smaller, out-of-the-way places where releases don't tend to move quite as quickly. But I don't recommend others do this...

And talking about releases three years ago, you may as well be talking about releases in Middle Earth. Things have changed to seriously crazy since then, there's no comparison.

 

The 2010 release (first in MN) saw two waves of distribution. The first wave was given only to select accounts in very small allotments. It hit at almost the exact same time as BCBS Vanilla and Rare, and disappeared just as fast. The second wave landed a few weeks later, this time it saw much wider distribution and increased allotments.
2011 saw fairly wide distribution and in large volume across the board. In 2012 it seemed to hit even more accounts, but in smaller quantities.
Each year the number of people chasing these releases has continued to go up as well, relatively negating the increase volume of bottles.
The 2010 release was also ridiculously cheap, I found it any where from $10.99 to $12.99 a bottle.

 

My original source that told me they would have it on shelves today, just informed me not til after thanksgiving. Damn!

 

not only the least expensive of the 3 vintages to MN by far the tastiest IMO

 

still sitting on a 2010 that has the original $9.99 price tag on it.

 

Official statement, we had a delay and it will be released to ship to stores beginning Dec 2. Again there is more this year than last, which was more than the year before that. Unofficial number but there will be around 25% more cases this year. It will be pretty easy to find.

 

It's becoming harder to get out here in the PNW as well. I'm sure Deschutes' continued national expansion spreads it out thinner.

 

something tells me this will go under the radar on BA...maybe so maybe not.

Bought seven bottles over the weekend of 2013. JL Beers in town here is selling bottles of 2012 for $20 too.

 

The 2010 Abyss bombers were still really tasty at Stub and Herbs at their pre-Darkness Day Party. Not bad at $17 considering the age and the fact that it's a bar.

 

Im in NE for holiday just bought 4 bottles in Council Bluffs IA they had at least 4 cases not even touched

 

Delay! NOOOOES. For some reason I still feel compelled to look.

 

What is the price in Council Bluffs?

$16 in Iowa and $17 in Oregon? That makes my brain hurt.
