I think you have to realize that some stores are struggling more than others so they need to mark things up to keep in business. Just a fact of life for stores that don't get as much business. Seems like a vicious circle but what can you do when you have to pay all the people a business does.

As true as that may be, it is also true that The Abyss has crept up in price the last three releases all predicated on the uptick on invoice. The store I work at has a set markup, so when the base cost to the store goes up, the beer will obviously be higher on the shelf.

Yah I guess I have to backtrack a little on my statement. I'm pretty sure the store I'm talking about uses the same mark-up on everything.

Funny I was just in there and was about to check out and saw the Abyss sitting up by the checkout up top. I obviously said I would like it but fortunately I asked how much it was cause I normally don't. Was in there to **** them of their $5.99 Stone Smoked Porter with Vanilla.

That was the same place that charged $50 for Darkness a few years ago.

I think it was 2010 when they were charging $60+ for Darkness, I remember the sign they had made up said 'extremely limited'. I suppose to try & justify their ways?

Picked up the last bottle at Byerlys Chanhassen yesterday and my friend got the last one at Liquor Barrel SLP. Called about 10 other places and I suspect we may have got the last 2 in the MSP area.

After giving up my search for a second bottle I randomly ran into a stash at Eden Prairie Liquor. They just got 2 cases. 2 bottle limit. Right next to the $20 Surly Smoke. Hahaha f that

At first I liked that liquor store but now I feel like they are trying to exploit the La Crosse/La Crescent area customers because they get different distribution and are starting to get some better limited releases. Woodmans in La Crosse gets all my business now, there pricing is reasonable and La Crescent Wine & Spirits needs to come back to reality.

I was able to find a store with no limit and they were only $14.99. Definitely gone by now as that was roughly a week ago and I grabbed 5 of them. I don't think they knew what they had since when I asked if they had a bottle limit they asked me if they should. That being said I saw places that were trying to sell them for $30.

Some of their prices are good and some are over the top. They are always going to be a bit more than Woodman's just due to taxes and pricing between states. I just wish their Great Lakes distributor was better. Never got any Lake Erie Monster last year, Christmas Ale just got there, etc. Pretty good place though.
