I knew you were joking... I was as well... I would take Alpine Beers and Bruery stuff over Abyss.
Shit man keep that Pliny and Double Jack train coming and I'll be your friend for life! Don't forget the Parabola
Actually, I must have meant this week coming up... Because I'll be out of town.
The Abyss got label approval according to TABC on 12/13. Hopefully we'll see it soon.
Is the label different than last year?
Possible ETOH level is different. Just throwing it out there.
Maybe. I'm too lazy to look at them to check.
Year is different for sure. Possibly other changes as well.
ABV changes yearly on The Abyss, IIRC.
This beer needs to come out already. I can't believe it's been over 13 months since I had last bought it.
They also tinker with the barreling process. The '10 was in bourbon barrels and the '11 was a mix of wine, bourbon and oak barrels.
Edit: percentages are listed on the bottles.
Not much difference in the labels. the 2012 is a little darker and some of the font is slightly different, but otherwise looks the same - other than the date of course. The blend looks the same as well.
Dechutes said that it is the exact same process, just clarified the barrel process more on the '11 bottle.
They can't possibly have to get approval due to it saying 2012 instead of 2011... can they? Wow.
It's a new label.
Gotta love TABC!!!
Ah. If I remember correctly the '10 says 30% and the breakdown on the '11 adds up to 27%. I will need to check my bottles to be sure.
Edit: If Deschutes says that is what they have always done then I won't argue with them.
glad to see I am not the only one anxiously awaiting new Abyss!
So any ETA on when it will hit shelves?
last I heard was second week in Jan. I am hoping for next week.
The next day you work and have no chance of calling in or leaving early.
hahaha, ain't that the sad truth
Seriously? When I'm out of town again? Lol
Advantage: Third Shift.
Hope this comes around soon! I've been waiting on this for over a month now.
If this happens and you are out of town I will do my best to cover you.
Beer guy at CM Southlake said that TX allocation had been sitting in warehouses down here but was re-routed to other markets due to the TABC approval taking too long - hopefully not true, and it was just delayed.
Seriously dude, do you know the potential shitstorm that could be caused by posting something like this? If there's one thing I've learned from all my beer purchasing, is that MOST(not all, MOST) "beer guys" know jack shit about the status or whereabouts of a particular release. Central Market "beer guys"(I use that term loosely, as they're generally more focused on their wine selection) are even less reliable. I've been to most of this area's CM's, including that one, and whatever questions their "beer guys" have answered ended up being flat out wrong.
And even if that rumor ends up, somehow, being true... I definately wouldn't post it here(where the jackals feast) until it became more of a known fact.
Now if it were someone like Fern making that statement I would start to worry...
Debated on whether or not to post it on here, but figured what the hell. Also, assumed that he didn't know much of what he was talking about...
I was told by the Central Market dude that Abyss will be here next week... I've been hearing that for the last month though.. It's all just a guess.
Abyss should be aged for at least a year anyway, so I don't care if it takes a little while before it hits the shelf.
Pre-aged for 2 months for your convenience.
Sitting in warehouses still... kick your beer guy in the nuts.
Hey, as long as they don't charge extra for the aging. That's all good Jack!
And we hope that there is some temp control on the aging environment. Most likely sitting in 80+ degree warehouse for part of the aging unfortunately.
20% off!! Lol
This should be in some Austin stores tomorrow. Maybe.
Hell must be freezing over.
I don't know how E1G got Dissident delivered on NEW YEARS DAY and ahead of every other store in Austin but more power to them. It's a good sign that the much fabeled Austin allocation will be showing up at other retailers. My partictular sources have been pretty circumspect about it.
So is it on for Houston or what?
