The guy sounds like a douche to me... and give BAs a bad name IMO.

 

I have had a bad beer from time to time and I have never reacted like that. Barrel aged beers is not easy and even the best breweries can screw it up. As we know now Deschutes changed their process for Abyss after this and made sure that there would never be another widespread infection issue.

 

But he wanted to go for a "look at me" type review.

Guess it got him on Youtube.

I bet most of you would have a similar reaction if you coughed up $18 dollars for that.

 

I'd be pissed, but I'd also contact the brewery and see what they could do for me. I wouldn't even waste my time to make a video and host it. That took more than $18 of his time.

 

I honestly enjoyed the 2009 Abyss that I had. It was similar to Funk Metal I guess only a little more sour. I guess I also got it as an extra so I was prepared for it to be sour and couldn't really get upset about it.

 

He does have a point on pricing... Check out the price tag on the 2006 Abyss we drank last month....It tasted awesome.

 

Judging by the faux wood paneling, atrocious recliner, and kitchen "decor" from his other videos, that took far, far less than $18 of his time.

 

Well then, maybe $18 is more than he should be spending on beer.

I had just assumed the bad decor and wood paneling was due to basement decorating.

 

So the 2006 is holding up well? Thinking about trying to track a bottle down...I have 07-11. When the 12 makes it here we are going to do a 7-12 vert but thought a full Abyss vert would be pretty epic. Worth it or not?
