So, I am tapping into the cellar for this weekend and I am trying to figure out what combo of beers to break out and sample with some buddies...

My current plan is to do the following three:
    -abyss
    -black butte XVI
    -parabola

I also have the following and I am winning to break em out too:
    -BCBS
    -Espresso Yeti
    -Chocolate Yeti
    -Mogli
    -Mokah
    -imp biscotti break
    -natalie imp biscotti break
    - imp donut break

Trying to see if any of you guys have advice for what would be the best combo. I think Abyss and Black Butte XVi will be a nice side by side but struggling with the 3rd...thinking maybe Mogli makes more sense as the 3rd? Then i could do:
BCBS & Parabola side by side
Esp Yeti & Mokah side by side
    and
The three breaks & Chocolate Yeti as a 4 beer tasting

    Please help?

    Thanks!

People will suggest just having two tastings. Too many of those huge beers will not be great in the long run. Tastes will be hard to differentiate after time

Big determining factor is how many people will be sharing each bottle?

Parabola, BCBS and Biscotti are my favorites of the bunch....Those are all great beers. Can't go wrong with any combo.

Drink the espresso stout...coffee fades from beer fairly quickly.

That is an interesting thought. i didnt think of that combo but given the mix of flavors that all of them have it might be a good idea!

Good point...now i am thinking Espresso Yeti, Moka, and Abyss might be nice...but would the coffee screw up our palates for tasting all the flavors in the Abyss?

Plus you'd be sh!t faced in no time with all these >10% beers. Sounds fun.

Save the XVI for next year. It really is better with a year on it.

would you say that for sure even if i have more than 1 bottle?

Every Black Butte I've had has been very good fresh, but twice as good at a year old. I would say especially if you only have one bottle. I don't encourage holding beer very often. But in this case, even Deschutes suggests that it will be "better" after a year.

Let me tell you Moghli appears to have absolutely no aging potential. Tried it and liked it although it's too damn expensive but then again they throw the "small batch" label on and anything goes.

you'd still enjoy it if you drank it now

why not grab another one? i know it's expensive, but it's a nice investment for your cellar.
