While not exactly on a par with Belmont Station's Bigger, Badder, Blacker event, for those in the Eugene/Springfield area, the Bier Stein today/tonight will have have 4 different vintages of Abyss on tap (2010 thru 2013).

Also, on a somewhat related topic, for those who are fans of the various Eclipse BA versions, Bier Sten will be doing an 8 beer flight event on 2/27/14 (Thursday). According to their website, this is a "sign-up only" event, with more information about it on their Facebook page (or you can just ask a bartender or staff member at BS about it).

    See ya there...

Go all-in on the 2010!!! AKA The Year (after which) The Abyss Died. (Yes, I know I'm in the minority here...)

2010 was darn good. Though 2013 has grown on me. I'm hoping it will age well.

Just did this exact vertical during Super Bowl with my own stash. 2010 & 2011 were both fantastic and none of them let me down. The 2010 probably eeked out the win

The beers were actually made a bit differently, as the info sheet at BS noted. The 2010 was aged solely in Bourbon barrels, while the 2011 thru 2013 batches were aged in bourbon barrels, oak barrels and wine (oak) barrels. Tasted side by side, I thought the 100% bourbon barrel aging in the 2010 really set it apart from the 2011 thru 2013. I liked all 4 batches (the 2011 was probably my least favorite), but I have to confess that I also thought the 2010 was by far the best of the bunch.

Also, I was told that the Eclipse tasting has now been pushed back into March.
