I dont like posting ISO threads without having some type of idea of what is a fair trade. What would a four year Abyss vertical (2010,2011,2012, 2013) be able to land in terms of HF Saison bottles? Would Flora and Flora Satsuma be out of reach? If so, what others would be considered an equitable trade? Any input from those of you with experience with HF trades would be appreciated. Cheers!

You'll probably get better feedback if you post this in the Beer Trading General / Help forum. To answer your question, I suspect the Floras would be out of reach. If you're looking for their saisons, you'd probably have a better shot with the ones that people can stock up a little on (Anna, Arthur, Grassroots, etc.). Still not sure what you'll get for bites, but post it up and see what happens.

get's a little bit trickier when you're talking about old bottles...but I think Abyss might trade close to $4$ with some of the easier to get HF stuff. I doubt, for instance, you can trade a $15 Abyss bottle for a $15 Birth of Tragedy bottle. maybe that bottle will get you an Arthur or a Twilight?

not sure though it varies a good it I think. and the vintage bottles are worth more for sure

even at my drunkest and most magnanimous you would never get a collected works bottle from me... and im not about winning trades. thats way off im afraid. you don't win some silly lottery, spend $300, amd drive to the sticks in VT to trade for abyss. and yes, Ive had abyss and flora and flora satsuma, yes they are all excellent, and yes im not speculating-- I am a CW member. y

you need to offer more or find a tasting group/ friend I think. sorry :slight_frown:

p.s if HF made a bunch more flora satsuma recently and released outside of CW and I co u ld have bought >1 bottle I'd totally consider abyss vert trade. (shrug)... though i must admit that flora is a better beer.

Yes, both beers were put on sale for non-Collected Works members.

You'd probably be able to land a combo of their standard saisons. In fact, I've traded HF saisons for vintage Abyss. I don't think you'd be able to land any of their BA stuff and I'd wager that Flora and Flora Satsuma are definitely out of reach.

Good question, turfy. I have a set of the same vert I'm looking to move, I'm just not sure what it would go for.

    Say it slowly with me....V-i-n-t-a-g-e i-s d-e-a-d

A buddy and I have this conversation often. Years ago there seemed much more interest in completing verticals if not the desire to try a vintage of a certain beer.

But with many of these beers...Abyss, Dark Lord, Darkness, Bruery, etc. released yearly, the trade value and desirability of vintage, at least in my opinion, seems to have plummeted and has been replaced by a new mentality: a fervent craze of everyone needing to try the latest 200 bottle release, nearly anything Goose releases, or a special name that barrel flavor-of-the-week one off. Not saying it's right or wrong...just saying it seems to be....

I can understand. I used to have a big interest in doing verticals; however, now I'm kind of over it. Each new vintage of something I get I drink right away. Unfortunately, the Abyss vertical is just something I've had and have been storing properly but just don't really want anymore. C'est la vie.
