Where did you pick up a 2011 Abyss in Boise?
    Thanks

What's the oldest any of you have had? Still have a 2010...thinking longer after seeing that video posted earlier where they said could be 10-15 years.

    That would be insane

I've had 2009 Abyss several times. That year had issues with infection, but I actually REALLY like the infected 2009 Abyss. If anyone has bottles from that year they don't want, let me know.

I don't know about 10-15 years. It would probably pretty oxidized by then. I agree with Ken on the infected '09, best Abyss I've had!

'06 is the first year. I've had it twice. Still great. We did '06 to '13 vertical earlier this year and consensus was that '07 and '08 were the best followed by '10. '09 is a drain pour to me. Lol

I always find it, plenty. Not in Texas.

On the subject of waxed Deschutes bottles, anyone heard anything about The Dissident?

It's coming based on Kyle's info and I could be mistaken but it sounded like they will do it again next year

Got tired of waiting, so bought bottles of Abyss and Dissident that were just sitting on shelves in AZ. I hate how long it takes for bottles to come out here....

Don't blame you. So do I. Not only that, AZ gets more than they need and we get less than we need, obviously if it sits on shelves there while being hard to find here.

    2006 for me...

I actually liked it also kmello and was mocked for it. In my defense, if you placed that same 09 Abyss in a BA JK Funk Metal bottle I'm sure it would be praised. :grimacing::wink::sunglasses:

I have had 2006 several times. I still have bottles of 2007-2013. Only one bottle of 2007 left but several of 2008-2013. Once I get my hands on some 2014 bottles, I will get some friends together and do a 2008-2014 vertical. Going to sit on the 2007 a bit longer. Maybe until 2017.

Have cracked various bottles in last 18 months and they all taste great. And I agree, I enjoy the infected 2009 bottles.

Better to secure a couple of bottles now than having to go through the rat race here to snag a bottle or 2

That was exactly my thinking. As I walked out the door of the shop, I actually said to my son "Well, don't have to worry about running around for THAT now."

ive had all of them going back to 2007.
08 and 10 are the best (still, as of this summer)
13 was the best vitnage fresh so far
12 is the worst; way too acdiic (cherry bark or whatever but it dont think it was it was soured)
09 was the infection year but not all of them were terrible
i cant remember when i last had 09 but it wasn't too awful

lots of ppl have old Abyss lying around as it was one of the first BA stouts that had decent ditribution that was a bit hyped, 5 - 8 years ago.
If you post an ISO im sure you'll get lots of responses if you have something decent to trade.

As for 10 - 15 years..i think thats' more than a little optimistic (if not downright misleading) on Deschutes' part. I sincerely doubt any will last more than a decade...

I've had a couple bottles of infected '09 recently...amazing stuff right there. Smokey with a nice hidden sweetness.

It's the same thing in NV. Cases and cases of of it untouched in Vegas. Decided not to waste luggage space for it, but maybe I should have.

Yeah, I think I need to have a word with my contact at Deschutes and advise them on what I feel would be a better allocation among the states they deliver to.
