They were announced in the same press release, true. I just didn't see anything that said the variants were in honor of the 10th vintage, versus it just being a coincidence (Gary mentioned single barrel variants in a thread here on BA prior to the 2014 release). They did say "we celebrate our 10th release," but it was another two paragraphs before the "Spoiler Alert."

Boise is supposed to be getting the variants as well. Distributor thought they would be out this week. Being that I haven't heard anything being released in Bend, I am guessing thats not true. Although we usually see releases the day after Bend.

I realize that someone's "join date" doesn't directly correlate with how long they've been enjoying good beer, but I don't think it's a coincidence that almost every one of the douchebaggy comments in that thread (and most others for that matter) come from people who've been on BA less than 2 years.

Deschutes just posted updates: releases will be available at the pubs on 1/15, three-bottle limit of each per person per day, $25 each.

Spokane: I've seen it at the Rosauers on 14th for $16.49 or there abouts. Think that Huckleberry's has it too for $16.99

Thanks Jason. I cannot find this on their site/FB/Twitter. Where did you see it?

Huh, OK. I see the 15th date in the comments but not the price. I guess it will trickle into FB/Tw soon enough.

Not seeing that posted on any of their social media. Did they just release today? Have a friend in town that can stop by.

I bought a bottle last night. I would call first since it was selling pretty fast.

Last night, I opened the one and only bottle of regular Abyss I planned to buy this year and it was completely flat. :slight_frown:

Stogies N Hops in Lynnwood, WA posted a pic of the cognac one yesterday afternoon, that they were for sale:

    https://www.facebook.com/stogiesNho...873544670966/1691145137777137/?type=3&theater

Available now? In Lynnwood? Um.... I saw a reference on Twitter last night to NWIPA having them for sale, but I think it was an RT from someone who bought one.

I'm curious...why would Deschutes allow that? Or do they have no control over it?

Well, Deschutes really doesn't have any control of it, once it's in distribution. I thought NWIPA was an anomaly, but I guess not.

Same thing happens with Bbomb and KDS up here every year. A lot of bottle shops tend to get it shortly before the official brewery launch.
