Super Deli in West Seattle had a few bottles drop in last night. I find myself not really interested in the cognac variant, but am interested in the rye one. Though, if I happen to find a cognac bottle, I may pick it up.

I went to the release in Portland and had the 2011-2015 vertical. 2014 was the best IMO followed by 2015. I was not impressed with the 2011-13 side by side. I have had quite a few 09s and I can't say that any stood out as infected, but they had wine like undertones. I have never had 09 on tap that I recall though.

Agreed with this. I had 11-14 vertical and '14 was by far my favorite. I blamed my distaste for '12/'13 on the aging itself, as I seem to recall them being much better fresh.

Indeed; I clearly missed this change on the 2015 label! Now I'm really itching for somebody from Deschutes to clear all of this up...

Just stopped onto the PDX Public House. Not only did they have the Cognac and Rye Anyss variants, they also had bottles of Black Butte³ and Sour Quad.

Do you know if they only had the pub exclusives for this event, or do they still regularly sell them?

I've considered driving down a few times, but I figured they were long gone.

Rye hit Seattle today and sold out super fast. Struck out. Guy I talked to at one shop said it was a smaller allotment than the Cognac, which is still floating around.

I am starting to get the impression that the only way to have a fighting chance of getting one's hands on either Abyss variant is to do so at one of the two pubs.

I live in north Idaho but have family in Seattle, and I made a detour through Portland (and what a nightmare that was! another story for another time tho) when I went to Seattle mid-December for the holidays, because I called ahead and was shocked -- shocked! -- to hear that they still had both BB3 and SQ! I figured they could not still have lasted to this point, but here other people are, posting that they have just been there and seen them still for sale. I very much doubt they brought them back just for this event; it's clear they still have stock.

Bend pub still had bottles this afternoon, as did Whole Foods (24.99).

Portland pub had no bottles left of either version when I got there this afternoon.

They did have the cognac and rye versions on tap. They even had bottles of Black Butte ^3 and Sour Quad. So there's that.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that the Bend pub had Sour Quad. I didn't see BB^3 (or I would have gotten some).

I am getting 1 case of the rye on Monday and can't decide on how many to buy. I set 2 cognac aside for myself. So far it seems everyone wants the rye over the cognac.

I actually asked last night, and the hostess pulled one out from underneath even though it wasn't on display, so they do (or did) have some left.

    Well, crap.

How is that a thing? Did they really make more of these than of the Abyss variants? They have had ongoing stock of these for months now. (Not that I'm complaining.)

BB3 and Sour Quad were pub only, Abyss variants will see distro, as I understand it.
