Finally got Rye yesterday, looks like Deschutes is just going to keep the hits coming this year.

10? Ambitious. Makes me feel better about the 4 I picked up.

Most stores got a case or so, so leaving two for everyone else is just... eh... you know.

Thoughtful. The word you're searching for is thoughtful.

After all, he could have taken all 12. :-)

I can't recall the last time I bought any beer in a quantity of 10+. I bought 8 Block 15 Intergalactics - that's about the largest bulk purchase I've made since college.

Well first of all, the place I bought it from did not get 1 case, they got 3 so....there's that....

Why are you buying 10 if you haven't even tried it yet?

3 are for trades, 2 are for my friends engagement, 1 is to drink with my friend coming in from chicago tomorrow. That leaves 4 for me to either make another trade or two, and sit on 1 or 2 for a couple of years. Not that I had to explain that... man this is a peanut gallery in here.

You don't have to defend yourself to me. I honestly don't give a shit. I don't chase beers.

Shrug. I asked because your statement didn't make any sense to me, since I wouldn't buy multiples of anything I hadn't tried first.

I used to do that with stuff I was confident would be good. I was right more often than I ever got burned. Batch 2 of Mirror Mirror was one of the ones that comes to mind as far as getting burned.

Yeah I get that, I had the cognac and loved it. Heard the Rye was even better so I didn't want to miss out since the price i got it at was 19.99, I always get stuff and wish I had gotten more.

Really? You must not go to any de Garde releases. Pretty much everyone (myself included) buys as many bottles as they can of everything, despite having never tried any of those beers. My buddy back East did the same at the recent ANTEAD variant release...

I'm not criticizing or condoning what Srqb did (I really could care less, and it's none of my business), but I can't say I found his behavior the least bit unusual.

It's been a few months since my last Tillamook trip, yeah. But no, I'm not one of those "buy as many bottles as I can of everything" folks. If I try it and like it, I'll try to get more. (Obviously this doesn't always work out. Ah well.)

Hell, sometimes I wouldn't even buy a full allocation at De Garde, and Sam would give me that "What the hell is wrong with you?" look.

Me too. I get the full allotment to satisfy friends (much like Srqb it sounds like).

Frankly, I think your behavior is very sensible (as if my opinion matters), but I suspect that you and I are probably in the minority when it comes to this sort of behavior. My guess is that most hunters of limited release beers are restricted only by financial considerations.

Very sensible (as if my opinion matters either) and it's something I'm trying to get better about. I bought 4 of each (half for friends) which left me with about as much as any one person *really* needs. But man, $25/per hurts. I think it's why the initial pub releases are still on the shelf.

I'm also a fairly recent transplant to the PNW, and I'm trying to re-train my brain to not rush out and horde these releases. :grinning: I love how chill things are here.
