Im from San Diego and still very fairly new to the scene, but I remember always finding myself drinking Ballast Point Sculpins whenever I had the chance.

^^ Well, just made my little mix 6. Last night, only ones I tried so far are the Lagunitas IPA and Odell IPA.

The Lagunitas was good, nothing too special in my opinion. Definitely drinkable, but it didn't have characteristics of an IPA how I expected. Good piney flavor, didn't taste much floral/fruitiness at all, kinda lacks a malty backbone.

Now the Odells IPA was superb, had that complexity I was kinda looking for. Great grapefruit, pine, and citrus.. Even tasted a little mango and pineapple in there.

Ready to drink the rest, maybe tonight.

I find Deschutes Fresh Squeezed and Sixpoint Bengali to be very drinkable and shouldn't discourage an IPA newcomer too much. And...they are really good!

SN Torpedo is rich with hop flavor, but not over-the-top bitter.
